I have made good experience with Wild Rider (http://www.wild-rider.com). Last November I got a car from them (TERIOS) for $259 a week. That car is big enough fro 2 people and you will get everywhere in Costa Rica. Something like a Rav4 is more comfortable, but the rental rates are higher and the gas consumption is a factor, too.
