After taking Delta on 9/11 and seeing how well they treated me, they got some brand loyalty. However their retarded web site has honked me off. I've failed twice in a row while trying to give them money. The last time, I got the same flight the Delta web site told me about but had no way for me to select for $100 less via travelocity, so I am less loyal. They need to work on the site. It used to be great but has turned into a disaster.

Spirit sucks ass. In fact, they suck more ass than RATT.

Continental. EWR to SJO- 2 non-stops per day for $370 total. 5 hours of rest in a comfortable airplane and I am in SJO.

USAIRWAYS was once my provider of choice. Daily non-stops PHL to SJO at very competitive prices. The certainty of Preferred member upgrades to First was always a bonus. Unfortunately, I can no longer say the same...non-stops to PHL have stopped (except for a seasonal 1 per week) and the pricing is no longer competitive.

Newark International is only about 40 minutes away from home and they have two daily non-stop flights to San Jose. The morning flight leaves at 8 and is pretty much always on time. The 5PM flight unfortunately matches the Turnpike rush hour and is invariably delayed from one to two hours.

I've never tried any other airline so I can't compare.

The tough part is finding good airfares.

AA for me,
but only because of the distance,

others do not fly from Canada or less frequently

AA has a flight every day from Vancouver connecting to SJO

FLL is my closest airport so I'm REALLY REALLY hoping SPIRIT gets their act together. They don't have to be perfect but........they'll have to do better...we'll see what happens when AA starts running down from FLL - SJO...

But hey..competition is a GOOD thing is it not? I'm paying half the airfare I did last year :) :) :)

I use Continental because I live near Houston and they have several non stops daily to each of my three destinations, MGA, SJO, and PTY. The service in flight has always been good and the food in coach is acceptable, in first class is gourmet level. They will also continue to serve the booze in first class until you have to deplane in a wheel chair. Any time I haven't been able to accomplish my route on line the reservation personnel in international have been fantastic, finding me the best flights at the cheapest prices. I ususally use miles and they almost always get me in for 35000. The only real problem I've had was my checked bags got lost on a flight to Managua once and there was ABSOLUTELY no assistance from Continental personnel there whatsoever even though they arrived on the next flight. Continental never informed me they were there, I had to keep going to the airport and asking the maintenance personnel to go look. Continental was never around, security would not let me go to the baggage area and customs would not let me re enter even though I could see my bags by the carousel and had my ticket stub. Finally the shuttle driver from my hotel bribed a friend of his in customs $20.00 and I got my bags. That was my only bad experience with Continental. Between countries in Central America I use Copa because of my CO flyer miles but they are extremely expensive for the distance of the flights, but so are the others. I wish to hell Southwest would open up some Latin American routes, they are hands down the best airline in existence.

Was looking in November/December and appears I will use Spirit for my next trip because flying them out of FLL was 1/3 cost of AA out of MIA for quick strike in November. Thinking second weekend of November. Once decided I will post in roll call.

On a side note- got to SJ and back on Spirit LD weekend with minimal hassle. Long check-in at airport in FLL and delayed about an hour but trip back was just fine.

I'll gladly pay $100 more for TACA than any of the others (except for continental, but their schedule sucks).
