Yikes! Hate to rain on your parade but you arrive on Good Friday and leave the day after Easter :( the worst time of the year for fishing in the gulch, you really want to have a blast change your dates. But there may be a few desperate women around- buena suerta.

Thats great information guys. Thank you very much.

I'll be at the SL 4/6 through 4/9. Anyone else planning an Easter trip to CR?? I expect I can hook up with a wingman once there. This will be my first trip to CR. I have been reading the board for a few months, it has great information. This trip is going to be a BLAST!

Not to rain on your first trip, but you should be aware that many girls go home to be with family during Holy Week and Easter Weekend. Your potential labor pool will be drastically reduced.

Certainly, there will be a few girls at each venue, but you won't find nearly the selection you would find during other times of year.

To the question of least expensive private rooms at the SL... I like Belleza and/or Paz in the older section. The original "master suite" down the narrow hall left of the reception desk is also very good, but not inexpensive. Yes, the hotel is noisy from six a.m. through midnight, and rooms near the atrium/reception will be noisier than the more expensive rooms in the new section, but the noise is not intolerable. Bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper.

Most any of the monger hotels can be noisy 24 hrs per day. Though I never stayed at the Delrey, I was with some friends in their suite on night late...like 2AM...and the floor was very noisy with slamming doors, loud music, and lots of giggling party girls. In the new wing of Sportsmens Lodge it has always seemed quiet to me. And most nights after midnight the original hotel doesnt seem that noisy...unless some rowdy group happens to be in residence.

For friendly bar, safe chicas, pool table, proximity to the gulch area without being in the middle of all the crime and noisy streets, etc...I suggest SL to all my friends. And of course the service orientation of owner/manager Bill is unmatched in Costa Rica in my opinion...

Well. I have reserved the Master Suite (whatever that is) at the SL. From reading the posts, I think I'll be okay as far as accomodations go.

As far as the women go, we'll just have to see how my luck goes. Because my visit is over Easter, I sure wish I could hook up with an experienced wingman that might know where to go to enhance the odds.

Maybe Bill can provide some assistance?

I can't change the dates, sooooooo... I'll just have to make do.

Thanks again you guys for all the great advice.

Pardon my pagan ignorance, but I assume "holy week" is the week leading up to Easter? Meaning that after Easter things are back to normal, whatever that word means in CR. thanks

You can't go wrong with the SL's Master Suite. As far as the women go, unless you are a close friend of the most recent "Ugly American" described in an earlier post, you will not have any problems. Guaranteed! If you need a wingman, keep looking and posting on the board.

Have a great time and don't be afraid to ask for help.

JD,

Thanks for the comment. Maybe with the Master Suite, and a little charm, I can find a nice Tica that needs to get, and to give, a little TLC.

Yes you are correct, for example this Samana Santa will be my fourth and I would definitely advise anyone planning a trip to avoid the period of April 6-8 at all costs.

I think you giving advice of what to expect, never having been here at that time yourself, is a disservice to a poster seeking guidance.

Just my dos colones.

Irish Drifter,

I'll still be there on the 9th 8) Maybe I can catch the Ticas when they arrive back in town after having been "without" for a few days. I'll be there to quench their thirst :P . (Gotta look on the bright side of things).

I do not mean that there will be no chicas just that the selection will be limited. A bad weekend in CR is most likely better than a weekend in most places in the US.

My point here was that guys who have no experience should not be giving advice.

True, I have no experience in CR during this time of year. It is also true I failed miserably to perform in-depth research to determine the number and availability of Ticas during this period before offering any advice. In addition, my comment regarding $$$ and charm was off the cuff and was not meant to be a interpreted any other way. It's unfortunate that some may have read into the comment and have drawn a different conclusion. For these things, Magnum, I apologize.

I'll be boarding my flight in roughly 3 hours for my seventh trip. Perhaps next year I'll schedule a trip during Semana Santa to gain more valuable experience. Further, in the future when posting advice, I will put a disclaimer after each post describing the time of year the advice is pertinent too.

I concur with ID. Was there last year during Semana Santa and it was almost like a ghost town, although...
