I ALWAYS TAKE A CAB AT NIGHT.

My wingman and I walk around all the time in the Gulch at night and I've never had a problem and he's only had some minor altercations. Don't carry a lot of money and you're good to go. Worst case scenario you empty your pockets of 50Kc and you're on your way. Don't think I would be their first choice to pick on though.

Never had a problem. Suggest getting a nice piece of wood and a leather strap for the handle. Nobody will f**k with you, not even the beggers.

My son & I stayed @ Amon Plaza last week & walked to & from the Sportsmans, Castillio, ZB , at night & never felt uncomfortable. Even made the rounds alone with no discomfort. We did however use cabs back & forth to the DR.

Never had any trouble in several trips to SJO, however that's probably because I a) don't get drunk and b) don't walk around in the wee hours.
Almost all (but not all) that gets mugged breaks one of those two rules and usually both. OTOH: do I miss any of the good times? Yep, probably do. Ya pays yer money and takes yer chances. BTW: If the CR cops really cared they would post a couple of guys in the gulch after dark. But that is probably too much like civic approval of mongering. FWIW
