Hi,

I am a returning member to CRT. I made my first trip to CR last May, staying at HLH, and had a great time. Very impressed with the hospitality extended by Jeff and Boyd. I understand there has been changes in ownership at HLH since my stay and that Jeff remains as manager. As I am planning another trip sometime in the November-December timeframe, I would be interested in your feedback as to the changes in HLH since my visit and any comments regarding possible alternatives to HLH.

Also, I would be interested in messaging Jeff. Can someone tell me his CRT contact info (is it Wiseash?).

Thanks... and look forward to communicating with you all.

I think Jeff uses the CRT name "Yupa". PM him.
Otherwise Wiseash should be able to direct you.
Also go to topic "Bars,Massage and Night clubs" below Restaurant Reviews and read about Zona Blue 2 and Lucky13.

Yupa is Dice, a former partner. As an outsider now, he can give you his opinions and suggestions. Band Camp has an IP address of Jeff and/or HLH. I am not sure which.
Whatever your plans, hope to see you when you come down.
My only venue is Havanahumidorroom.com. Lucky13 owns Zona2. I have meet Kim, the new owner of HLH and she seems to be very nice.

YUPA is NOT Jeff.

YUPA is Dice, who is one of the FORMER partners in the HLH venture, along with Jeff and some others. That partnership is no longer intact.

WiseAsh is in the adjoining building, the new Zona 2, in his cigar shop every day. He is NOT Jeff. He is well informed about many things related to HLH and Zona 2, but I don't think that he wants to "speak for" HLH.

When Boyd left about 18 months ago, and some new owners came on the scene at HLH, there was some chatter that nobody representing HLH was using this CRT board to reply to our comments and questions like Boyd did. Jeff has never been too interested in posting here. To fill the void, Dice became the one to monitor this board and reply to us. Jeff paid attention to other aspects of the business.

Now that Dice is out of the HLH partnership, and new owners of HLH are on the scene with Jeff as their General Manager, it remains to be seen who will be on CRT to help us with HLH issues.

My apologies gentlemen, I have been posting in another area of CRT and have neglected this section.

It seems many are already aware of the changes at HLH, but have had no representation from the hotel. That is where I step in. As mentioned before, Kim and I are the new hotel owners and we are working hard to rebuild the business. I have taken the task of keeping CRT members up to date and informed on our progress.

There are changes under way and more to come. However, we are still operating. So, please stop in and see how we are doing (All previous specials are still being honored).

I look forward to meeting everyone,

Jason

I look forward to meeting everyone,

I had the privilege of meeting Jason and Kim on Wednesday. They were meeting with Jeff so I just introduced myself and left. They seem like nice people and wish them the best of luck. We all need everyone to be successful on this board in my opinion. Tourism is good for us all. Go by and say hello. Hopefully, the kitchen will open soon. I really do miss the Reuben.

Fresh intel: was there last weekend to look around; there is now a wall where the steps up to the bar area in HLH used to be. I am just catching up on this news. Now, the old zona blue is being made over into zona 2; as of right now the place is under construction. Met the owner and he says the new zona 2 will rock. Looked at some of the hotel rooms upstairs and they all have stripper poles. cool! He is planning foam parties and lots of crazy stuff, should be worth checking out when it is done in Oct.

Then I went into what I guess is still HLH, tho no sign up. It's next door, and it is slow; about four fuglies sitting around, looked dead. Not sure how this new division of space will play out. I hope both places do well, time will tell.

@One Lucky Dogg
It was a pleasure meeting you as well. I hope we get a chance to chat more on your next visit.

@batinthecity
I am glad you took the time to stop in. You are correct, HLH is the blue building next door to the where the old entrance was (proper signage is in the works). We have just taken over and still in transition. There are lots of changes coming and with Zona 2 opening next door we have some tough competition on the way. However, this is good for everyone. Jimmy has been very gracious with us and we are building a good working relationship. I think together we can make this area of the gulch THE place to be.

I agree with THE LUCKY BEAVER competition is good for everyone it keeps everyone on point and makes them bring their A-game.
After living here in San Jose for eight years I have seen a decline in the energy the gulch used to have and has become sort of hum drummed.
I am hoping to bring back that energy that used to be here.
I think having two places next to each other similar in venue but different in style will give the patrons a choice within a 50 foot walk and is a very good thing.
I will be posting pictures of the renovations on the ZONA2 INFORMATION thread shortly, if you would like to see them.
As always if you are around stop by and say hi both at ZONA-2 and HLH
JIM

In one of the posts above, TheLuckyBeaver stated "Kim and I are the new hotel owners and we are working hard to rebuild the business". So I am guessing TheLuckyBeaver is Jason. Maybe his name refers to a different type of beaver!

Nickphoenix1, I answered your question about reservations in another post...
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=44305&start=30

Many of the same great chicas from the HLH days can be found at the Scores. However, I think the question of names would be better answered by our fellow posters.
