I am going to be in Jaco for 3 nights (Feb 1,2,3) booked at Claritas...but then saw the ad the in discount section for Poseidon so sent them a message... Poseidon more expensive but looks a little nicer...I haven't been to Jaco before but want some beach time this visit...just wondering if anyone had any comments on both/either...

I would like to hear peoples thoughts on these options as well. Also would like to hear any thoughts about Hotel Cocal (sp?) and Copacabana.

Thanks

Disclaimer: Poseidon are my friends and I always hung out and worked there when I lived in Jaco. have watched football and hung out at Clarita's also. Got good friends there. Clarita a little more white trash atmosphere. Haven't been in the rooms, but have slept at Poseidon many times when having problems with the AC or the current chica in the house. Comfortable! And he is my boy but I always say NEGOTIATE!

I have stayed at Claritas a few times. They have a nice outdoor bar on the beach with a fun atmosphere, but the rooms are pretty dumpy.

Beach time with p4p, yes Jaco, but really not a nice beach by CR standards. 1 hour south, Quepos/Manuel Antonio is a world class beach, with some p4p, 2 bars downtown, Wacky Wanda. Pescador, next door to each other, not nearly as many as Jaco, but it depends on what you want to do. I have some pretty nice stuff in Quepos but I have had years to develop friendships.

Claritas I'd fun to hang at times, butbi wouldn't recommend staying there, posidenen is nicer is the way to go between the two.

Hotel cocal is nice, conveniently located on the strip. Most the girls come there, during season, arojn 4-5 til it eta dark, they hang around the pool and casino. I always stay at vista mar, which is the condo development directly beside cocal, and shares the same amenities.

Thi next trip (feb 4-8) will be the first time I will not be staying at vista mar. I waited to late to book, forgetting it is super bowel weekend....oh well casa ponte was happy to take me in, whahhhaaa...whahhHahahhh (evil laugh :)))

Thanks OK

Can you comment on the chica fee situation in the above mentioned places?

BTW, I know there are parties here for Super Bowl, but there is serious activity going on down at Jaco that weekend. The girls around the pool at the Copacabana were off the hook last year. And Los Amigos has some serious tail wandering around at their Super Bowl parties.

Poseidon is a nice place, clean rooms with cold quiet mini split a/c, hot water, mini fridge, satelite tv, safe, comfotable beds. Gourmet resteraunt with menu items for every budget. Awsome free fruit plate for breakfest as well as good coffee. Computors available for guest in the lobby area. Nice pool, 24 hour security. Cute tica batenders. Located in the center of town. The concierge can help you arrange fishing trips, tours, ziplines, surf lessons etc. Friendly upbeat helpful staff !

Should mention that the Poseidon is right in the middle of town, while Claritas is up at the north end and feels kind of isolated. No that far from the Beatle Bar, though. Claritas might be the best beach bar in town, but a close 2nd would have to be the Bohio, which is a half block from the Poseidon and my personal favorite; it's reputed for the "afternoon shift", of course. I'm trying the Poseidon in late February, after having stayed at Morgan's Cove my two prior visits this year...

Stayed at Claritas last month, the bar is fun but as far as the rooms go, no way. Mold everywhere and the floor was so dirty I check out the next morning. I have stayed at some nasty places before but never a place like this. Go there in the evening by taxi and party but do NOT stay there. Just my experience, never again.
