I was looking to head down in May but this fare is crazy. I checked on Spirit and the flight schedules are inconvinent to say the least. Any of the Atlanta guys have any ideas? I guess we pay for Deltas nonstop monopoly.

I would keep checking during the next month.

I use miles for my travel. A trip from May 1 , returning May 31 is 35,000 miles and $42.90 tax. Thats as low as it gets.

Or this may work for you.

That's more than I'm paying to fly from YYZ->ATL->SJO in April!! That's just crazy, but fares have been pretty high for awhile now.

I drive down to Orlando park my car for about $4.00 a day catch a flight on Jet Blue. Normally costs Less than $300.00 round trip total taxes included non stop. Great flight schedule. I know it is a bit of a hassle but well worth the effort.

The Airlines know from experience and analizing travel patterns where the most traffic is going to occur. Then they price accordingly, usually the earlier you book the lower the price. However with the price of oil???? who knows how high it will go before it heads back south, airlines will start discontinuing certain Flts that don't put butts in the seats. My fear is with the high price of oil, it'll impact our economy possible double dip ressession.

This really sucks since we (taxpayers) bail them out when they get in a jam.

The same seat on the plane that lands in SJO cost more if you came directly from ATL than it does if you flew on a plane from SFO to ATL then from ATL to SJO. They price each ticket according to what the competition is charging.

So it cost more to fly 1672 miles than it does to fly 4512 miles. :?

That's common practice among the airlines when they have a monopoly on direct flghts to destinations, especially international ones, from their hub airports. If you want to go from ATL to SJO then Delta is your only choice, but from ORD to SJO you have multiple chloices, Delta being just one of them.

Sucks for you guys in the Atlanta area, but good for the rest of us. :P

People here need to forget the excuse of "the price of oil". ATL to LAX (which is a longer flight) $310...ATL to SJO $908. They started going up last Sept. Every flight that tranfers here(Chicago, NY, Washington, ext) is lower, and they get on the same plane as I would going to SJO. I'm going to drive to Orlando and get a Jet blue flight to SJO for $288. F@#k Delta!

Don't forget that direct flights cost more...one could fly from Atlanta to Chicago on a supersaver fare and then get the deal...but do guys really want to spend the extra time flying?

The last time I checked it cost more to fly from Chicago to SJO than Miami to SJO on American Airlines. That is a direct flight from Miami to SJO.

One suggestion: I have an email account just for travel and receive deal alerts from almost all airlines that fly to San Jose. I start seeing alot of deals around the same time, I start checking Kayak. Also, I sign up for the daily alerts, prices up and down. So far this year, My highest far has been $370 It helps to be flexible on dates. Generally you can get the best fare at least 30 days out.

I just checked Kayak... MIA to SJO $219... ORD to SJO $477 on AA. I know about the deal alerts, there haven't been any from ATL for a while. A fligh from ATL to SJO shouldn't be $800-$900.
