This will be my second trip to CR. I am staying at the Castillo 12/27-1230.

My question is, what do i tell the taxi drivers at the airport how to get there? Because I'm 95% positive he wont know how to get there.

On there website it gives the directions:

Avenida 9, Calle 9
Detrás del INS
San Jose
Costa Rica

Will this be enough, or are there some CRT directions to the Castillo?

Try:

"frente del hotel Don Carlos o 200 metros oeste del Cafe Mundo."

and you can also include:

"el hotel Castillo, detras del edificio INS en Barrio Amon. Calle 9 y
avenida 9."

That's always a good idea...write it down. Also, all the cabbies have cell phones, so take the Hotel's phone number too: 221-5141

Behind the INS building. If he says he does not know the INS building exit the taxi and retrieve your bags. Wait for an honest taxi. One should arrive very soon.

In CR have no mercy and take no prisoners.

if you take the interbus from the airport instead of a taxi, they all know where it is and its a lot cheaper.

The 95% is on the wrong side of the equation  The airport cabs (orange ones) will know where the Hotel Castillo is located.

Thanks to all.

I was originally wanted to stay back at the old HDR. Sent in my request, and it came back as $120 a night. Would have paid it on my first trip, but not now. Just not worth it in the long run.

The taxi will ask one of his buddys before he takes off if he does not know where it is. Just tell him it is right next door to the Hotel Hemmingway and accross the street from the Hotel Don Carlos. Not a problem. Also I'll be staying there during your visit. PM me if you want to hook up.

I know downtown Nuevo Laredo and boystown like the back of my hand. I'll tell you over a beer how the donkey tied up out front one of the clubs tried to kick me when I reached over to pet him. I'll have to admit though I'd be pretty pissed off to if I had some fat ugly senorita blowing and humpin' me twice a day.
