Guys,

I'd like to give a quick post on comparing higher-end suites in the gulch... by higher end, I mean over $175 dollars per night. This is by no means a comprehensive evaluation, so I welcome, as a matter of fact, I humbly request that readers add on to my list in order to provide some good information for those considering staying in one of these rooms in the near future.

I have personally stayed at both the Presidente's Master Suite and the Sportsmans Lodge Penthouse and have enjoyed my stay very much at both. A new player is coming aboard very soon in the 'higher end' priced suites in the gulch (our fav, ZB) and I wanted to simply give my thoughts on the three places.

I was once in the military way back when, and during events which were called After Action Reviews (AAR's) where a recap of a training event was discussed, it was always said that if you had a complaint or criticism with no recommendations, you were just compiling to the problem... so I put recommendations as well on the two reviews. I am by no means a subject-matter expert on how to run things at a hotel, but they are just humble suggestions which I think would make the stay more pleasant at each location.

Presidente Master Suite:

I absolutely loved this place when GR and I had it a little under a year ago. It is very VERY spaceous and has a killer view of the city. It has two bedrooms and two full baths. The huge jacuzzi is phenomenal, and I mean PHENOMENAL... Outdoors in the jacuzzi overlooking the city with a honey-bunny... this is what it's all about. The obvious ammenities that the Prez gives makes this place even more awesome, such as its own casino, restaurant, etc. etc. Great shit.

Shortcomings: The very thing that makes this place amazing for me is what creates its ultimate irony... The room is spacious and roomy, with large enough couches to fit 10 comfortably, the Jacuzzi is huge and can easily fit a party of eight with still enough legroom to spread out... But then the Hotel rules only allows you to bring in one chica at a time. I just don't get it! Another thing is that access to the jacuzzi is only through the master bedroom, which creates a disadvantage to the guest staying in the other bedroom.

Recommendations: Get rid of the "1 Chica" rule for the Master Suite, it just doesn't make sense, and being that the person staying here is paying $250 per night, that rule should be null and void for that particular room. If there's any renovations ever done to that room, make an access way to the jacuzzi for those not staying in the master bedroom, thus making it fair for all guests in the suite. Besides that, this room is pretty much perfection and "The Standard" in paradise.

Sportsman's Lodge Penthouse:

I just did a 5 night stay at the Penthouse and had a wonderful time. Access to the Jacuzzi is through the living room, so if and when two or more people are staying at the suite together, no one has an advantage to access to the fun parts of the suite. The HDTV set up on the wall with access to the interet to download your own music is genius, especially when throwing your own ad-hoc, last minute, late-nite afterparty (which we did several times). The design and decoration of the place is very euro-yuppy post-modern, which I thought was beautiful. The minibar sure helped for late-night cocktails and parties. Being that there is no chica fee's or limits like at the Prez, this place is PERFECT for those that like the multiple chica parties and events... The twin jacuzzi's don't have as nice of a view of the city as the Prez's Master Suite, but the view of multiple chicas on you is always better than ANY skyline... personal preference I guess.

Shortcomings: The stereo system and internet access was cool, but it was very confusing at first to figure out the 3 remotes and how to access everything. Also, the walls seem very thin here, as I could clearly hear the band that played at the bar every night, just as all the guests could hear my music in the new wing when I had the system up.

Recommendations: This is an easy fix, but create a little "Entertainment Guide" to show the guest how to access the computer, which input is for TV, for DVD, etc. so that the fumble factor is reduced. Also, the second floor loft is beautiful, but I think a TV up there would help make it a little more fair for whoever is staying up there. I know there were times when Muff (my very fun and wild roommate) would have rather given me a little more privacy in the living room/community area, but due to nothing to do or see in his room, he just chilled out at the minibar in the living room. A wall-mounted flatscreen up there would be awesome... be it for entertainment for oneself, or for fun-factor when you are with company if you like watching porn while having fun in the bedroom. I think that everyone agreed also that there should be added speakers or an independent music system out in the jacuzzi area so that music can be heard while out there... you REALLY had to BLAST the living room stereo in order to just barely hear the music out in the jacuzzis, which was something that almost everyone who came in made a comment on. These are all REALLY EASY fixes, however, so it's evident that you really have to go into the weeds to find flaws with this place... it truly was a BLAST hanging out here.

Zona Blue Suites:

This is all just a preview, but let me tell you, once these things are up and running, I think that this will be THE ULTIMATE in where to stay in the gulch. These rooms, for the first time, were TRULY made with THE HOBBYIST in mind... let me explain... HUGE mirrors in front of the beds, saunas and steamrooms in every room, big-screen TV's for porn in all (or almost all) rooms, special pricing for ZB chica sessions, and some more treats that truly make this place awesome. I think Muffdiver has some pics to post soon, but believe-you-me, these rooms are absolutely porn-o-rific, guys... I'm not going to post on prices or availability since nothing is official yet, but I can say that the prices and discounts that Eddie discussed with me are VERY, VERY fair when looking at what you get with it. ZB will EASILY be the most coveted place to stay for those willing to spend more than $150 a night in the gulch. I'm sure that pics, opening dates, availability, pricing etc. etc. and all that other good stuff will be made available very very soon on the board.

Enjoy!

Ruff,
Nice job. Great assessment on the 'upper end' suites in SJO. I'm looking forward to hearing about the pricing on the new rooms at ZB. When I was at ZB last month, I didn't take the time to go look at the new rooms, but I've seen the ones that Muff posted in the Gallery. They look real nice.

I've never stayed at the Master Suite at the Prez, because every time I try to make reservations, it's always booked. But I do love the Penthouse Suite at the SL. And I concur about the Audio/Video System in the Penthouse. I couldn't figure it out. And it's damn near impossible to hear the stereo when you're in the Jacuzzi with a chica, and the bubble jets are going, and the water's running, and you're splashing around, and....... well, you get my drift!

I'm looking forward to staying in the SL Penthouse Suite over the Labor Day weekend! :P  :P

Mucho Gusto

Let me add to Ruffnutz comments.

My room (Vista del Sol) at SL was below his living room. The sound system in the Presidential Suite is outstanding UNLESS YOU'RE IN THE ROOM BELOW!
Then it's a bit much, especially if they're are trying to hear the music over the jacuzzis which are located out on the patio.

See my complete review on Vista del Sol in the this category.

As for the Presidente's Master Suite, I believe it's been posted that since it is designed for two guests you can have two girls. How you distribute them is up to you.

Last time down I had a chat with Eddy about the rooms. And, as you mentioned, nothing is set in stone yet. Although (prelimary talk) is that it will be the most expensive of the choices, it will be well worth it!! I mentioned a special service that I would like to have offered for guys in my unique situation. (Don't ask but, if it's added I'll elaborate. No, nothing of the sexual nature! :-) )

As for the rooms, I couldn't agree more about what you have posted. Particularly the situation at the Prez. That room(s) probably has more square footage than my house! My experience with internet access was that the SL has much more efficient access. I don't have anymore to add since I have not been in the SL penthouse. I hear it's wonderful. I just wish I had the money to stay in those rooms!! Although, once the ZB setup gets going I'll splurge for those amenities.

IMHO, the Executive Suite at Casa Vino is by far the best value of higher end suites in the Gulch. The proximity to Hotel Amon and Zona Blue cannot be beat. It is like having your own apartment.

http://www.casavinocr.com/

With Ruffnutz's knowledge of the noise level at SL and the one chica policy at the Presidente, I believe that Casa V is more value oriented. The only negative, for those that want to be around others mongerers, is that it is more of a quiet place. I have to say that I did not like the constant smell of KFC while staying in the Master Suite at the Presidente.

I look forward to staying at the ZB suites. Anyone have any information on when they will be opening.

Have a Great Day,

Dave

Word on the street is...   SOON SOON SOON!...

They are just waiting on some offical paperwork to make this all work but everything is done and up and ready to hit the ground running....

I will not steal Eddies Thunder, but

3 of the Suites have Two Bedrooms a Master & a smaller one, so splitting the cost of the suite makes it very affordable, just so you know one room is smaller than others.

The one Suite with only 1 bedroom has the advantage of the only Jacuzzi out of the 4 suites.

The Top floor Suite or (Veranda) has a great out door veranda up on top of the roof... I can only imagine the amount of people watching at night that will go on with all of "Nukinfutz's" friends  in the area.

One of the other suites has a smaller Veranda that offers same as the above people watching wise...

Ameneties are incredibl, furninture, flooring, linens, mattresses about a grand each and the unlimited Chica sessions at special prices make this a must for any serious hobbyist.

If I were you I'd be emailing Eddie for pre-reservations for Labor day I hear a pretty big party is happening that weekend..  :

This thread bears a suspicious resemblance to another thread from a few months ago...

https://costaricaticas.com/phpBB2/viewto ... sc&start=0

At any rate, you really can't go wrong with any of the places mentioned here if you have the bucks to spend. I've stayed in the Master Suite at the Pres and the Exec Suite at Casa V, and spent considerable time in the Presidential Suite at Sportsmen's. Yeap - the chica limitation at the Pres is a pain in the ass (though it didn't seem to cramp Ruff's style at the time...focused in as he was on a particular someone  ), and that might be enough to sway me towards one of the other options.

IMHO, Casa V is really better if you're with a novia (as I was at the time) for the higher level of privacy it affords (though it might feel a little isolated otherwise). And it definitely beats the hell out of the similar-in-style apartment at the Hotel Rincon - though at a somewhat higher price level.

Licking my chops over those new ZB rooms.... :D

I can't believe that with the creme de la creme of expertese offered by CRT's most trustworthy posters, no one has mentioned the exquisite accommodations offered by the "Honeymoon Suite" at the Hotel Johnson.

Just to mention a few of the house specialities......

Both Hot and Cold running water......down the hall

Full 3" Beauty Queen mattresses on military style single beds

Showers during all thunderstorms

Full air conditioning if you leave your windows open and there is a breeze

Gourmet cuisine catered by the famous Kentucky Pollo chefs

Complimentary rodent traps...Just ask at the front desk.

And to top it off. You get a $165 refund on your $175 room to be spent on bringing in chicas from the top of the line massage parlors on 6th Avenue.

My friend RBC100 gives it 5 stars despite the persistant rash he developed when last there (just kidding RBC) :-)

My sincere apologies to anyone from the Hotel Johnson who may be reading this. My comments are made strictly in gest.

Yo El Lamero, 69 must be a good number as you are in your prime this morning. We may have to rename you Circus the Older on that one. One correction though, if you wait a few mintes you actually have running water in the room.rbc100

As of August 1st, some of the rooms at the new Hotel M will be players in the "$175+" range... I look forward to hearing from those who stay there in August!

For those of you who want an upscale environment equal to the US try the White House. www.whitehousecostarica.com . Located just outside of SJ overlooking the city in what was once one of the Shah of Irans mansions. It has a private helipad, Great resturant and beautiful rooms. The entire property is surrounded by a big wall and there are armed guards 24/7.

When you are in need of a chica just ask. They will provide take out for you with a description provided by you of what and how many you want. If you prefer to get them yourself they have a Hummer and a Suburban to take you wherever you want to go. No need to pay for a taxi. They also rent Harley-Davidsons. I recommend this as I had a blast my last trip riding for over five hours.

I had the pleasure to be introduced to the owner through a mutial friend and I spent quite some time there my last trip. If you want to be catered to and have first class amenities this is the place.

Oh yeah. I can't forget to mention the beautiful pool and hot tub in a private setting as well as a casino built into the front of a hill away from the house. The resturant is glass enclosed on three sides affording the great views with a nice bar as well. Views to die for of the city and three volcanos.

When you get there be sure and say high to Reggie from me. I will be there in a few weeks. YEAH!!!

Pura Vida, RC

I second what Dave said about Casa Vino. With the discount it's $75 each if you stay with a wingman and what the other poster said about it being perfect for M-men, it's also great for having parties. We loaded up on liqour and had a party everyother night. Invited a bunch of chicas, music, drinking, dancing even strip-poker. I like the privacy, you're able to make as much noise as you want as late as you want.

Ahh.... no one has mentioned the deluxe suite at the Dunn Inn. This is partly in jest, as I do like the Dunn Inn and its location. Its a great little hotel for the price and convenient to casinos, SL and ZB. The staff are friendly and the food is quite good.

The suite has air conditioning that sort of works. 2 medium sized rooms and a jaquzzi type shower/bath. I can fit myself and a chica in it and the ledge supports a few cans of beer. Full bar with a loaded fridge. 2 friggin' TVs... can you believe it?

My only complaint are the bed bugs. Not in the bed, but in the sofa. I also don't appreciate the cumbia blasting in the morning from the bar. BTW... its only $70 per night. What a deal!!! :P :P
