Gentlemen:
I just spent the better part of the afternoon with the General Manger of the Presidente here in Miami. Rather than let 3 different threads run all regarding the same topic, I thought I would relay their position as it was explained to me today which is for now in the future.

1st off The Hotel Presidente continues to be very loyal to CRT and to its members and very much wants our business. They will continue their policy of never a guest / chica fee and any rumors to the contrary are just that and completely false. We will be announcing a new discount policy at the hotel shortly that will be as always with the VIP’s in mind.

Now to the Subject at hand the Dress code!

The Hotel Presidente over the years has always been a first class hotel with great services clean rooms, discounted prices, no chica fees and a willingness to accept the Single male traveler for who we are. In that respect nothing has changed.

There have been however some really disturbing things that have happened there, that thankfully were not our members to the best of our knowledge. It has been the old “ugly American” syndrome that we here at CRT try to discourage based on our creed of enjoy yourself and your brothers, the ladies etc but do it as a gentlemen. There have been the loud rowdy drunks in the halls, people making a scene in the lobbies, even someone threatening physical violence towards a front desk clerk.

As Tourism has increased to C.R. so has the occupancy rates, and with that The Presidente caters to all forms of travelers now, from the Eco Tourists, to families, and of course us the Single Male Traveler. It is a very delicate balance that they are trying to maintain where they welcome us with open arms, yet do not want to offend the very large majority percentage of guests of the Presidente that are traveling without our mindset.

With all of this in mind, they instituted a dress code. No earth shattering change of policy, just something that they felt was in their best interest which in simplifying was have the girl look presentable in her manner of dress when coming and leaving the building. If a lady doesn’t have a cover up of some sort, well the security has the right refuse admission. This may seem unreasonable to all of us, but at the risk of offending the majority of their patrons, this is the way it will be.

Your views have all been heard here as all of your threads and posts have been brought directly to the management’s attention and discussed in detail. Although there will be no drastic change in policy as with any type of code enforcement that is up interpretation you obviously at times will have some sort of disagreement about what is and what is not appropriate. As times go by changes that are necessary will be addressed.

The management has clearly stated they wish to maintain a good working relationship with our members & continue to welcome us with open arms. They believe in our mindset to behave as gentlemen and enjoy yourself as a gentleman. I do not personally believe this is too much to ask and if you are unhappy with the new dress code, then they respectfully request you seek alternative lodging.

DRESS CODE:
The Hotel instituted a dress code for our guests and visitors with the intent of maintaining a pleasant and comfortable atmosphere in the public areas of the hotel. While we understand that clothing is a personal matter, highly reflective of individual taste and style, inappropriate clothing can impact the level of decorum at the hotel. To this end, our dress code is intended as a guideline for guests and visitors.

Since every piece of clothing and its wearer are different, decisions on what is appropriate is left to the discretion of the manager on duty.

While in the hotel’s public areas, guests are requested to:

-Wear shoes at all times
-Avoid low-cut or very revealing clothing
-Avoid extremely short skirts or shorts
-Keep midriffs covered
-Avoid mesh tops and swimming attire
-Avoid clothing with racist or discriminatory insignias or logos

Admin1: Seems like the Prez is simply trying to enforce their dress code that was always there. Did you bring up w/ the Gen. Mgr. the complaint re: security guard interpretation of what is in compliance and the alleged bribery attempts. Of course, I realize everyone has their hand out but it would piss me off too and sorta deflate the moment. Wile Coyote

I can assure you that any bribery attempt allegations have been dealt with. If there is an incident that comes up in the future please feel free to back channel me with the time & date of the incident and the security guards name if yo have it.

Thank you.

I think that will be a help as a lot of the flack concerning the dress code was from non VIP members. While I certainly do not want to paint all non VIP members with the same brush I feel that discounts should certainly be extended to those whose $$$$ support the site.

Just my opinion and sure there are those who will disagree and post their feeling.

All this publicity and fuss about the prez is making me consider cheating on castillo...theres been so much written and different views shared I'm becoming interested in researching the place myself.

I have only been to SJ once and really enjoyed my stay at the castiillo, I'm sure I will stay there many more times. But from what I've read and seen of the prez, I can't for the life of me understand what all the complaining is about, looks like a faily nice hotel, I've heard no complaints there , all I hear is how great the news cafe and the rail are, the location is right in the gulch, their rates look pretty darn good for the room you get.

Guess I just don't get why with all the other options available that people keep dragging them thru the mud over a guest limit or dress code. You know about these things up front , if you don't like them stay elsewhere, seems pretty simple to me. The prez may not be in the freedom of the USA, but they are running a business ( a fairly well respected one from what I can tell) and they should certainly be allowed to implement policies as they see fit. Afterall, whether some guys wanna believe it or not....the world and no not even CR doesn't revolve around us mongers.

If you have that big an issue with their new policies , its actually pretty simple...........NEXT!!!

Just a newbies opinion as I have sat back and read post after post about this topic and just had to throw my 2 colones in, certainly not trying to ruffle the feathers of any veteran CRT members . In the meantime I think ya'll just helped me decide where I will stay during my next trip to CR.....The Prez  Especially if they have extended some deeper discounts to the VIP members.

As I've mentioned before, it is common knowledge by anyone who has been on TSM, WSG, ISG, UMV, CH and just about any other website dedicated to Single Male Travel that all you have to do is ask and you will receive the discount. There are few secrets left in this age of the World Wide Web.

Unless there is a major change in the works, the CRT VIP membership really grants no special discount at Hotel Presidente. Personally I like to think it helps in dealing with Maria and Wendy and other members of management but that is hard to guage.

As for the "ugly Americans", it wouldn't suprise me to learn that these guys are members of some of the above mentioned websites. There are some people that just never learned how to conduct themselves as adults. Let's hope CRT members are NOT among these characters.

Thanks admin 1 , I was eluding to your earlier post where you had mentioned that there would be an announcement on VIP discounts concerning the prez.

No harm no foul Wit!

I loved the presidente hotel when I stayed there, except for this danged dress code. I know that they are catering to everyone and not just the single male travler. But unless this dress code changes, I will take my business elsewhere in San Juan.

I hate the feeling of being in the HDR and see this hot girl and think "hey it would be nice IF she fit the hotel's dress code".

Oh, the thoughts on bribeing or covering the girl up with something else, didn't work. I tried it while I was there.

I've spit my venom about this matter a few times already. To date, I have not had a problem at the prez or anywhere else, except for 1 jerk at DelRey. I had a few "words" with him and the chica stayed. Most of the girls are not dressed inappropriately enough for there to be any problem. My suggestion to management there is to just make sure they don't put a goober at the front door. It needs to be someone cool that knows the difference between sexy and scanty. The coolest guy there should have this responsibility. Damn! If only my mom would have had twins. Bro wouldv'e hooked us up! 8)

A very easy solution would be for the Hotel to have some type of garment available at the enterences for "special guest " to wear. Resturants that require ties or jacket have such available for customers.

IMHO it would just be another way of providing exceptional Customer Service.

How about those shirts they have been selling in all the beach stores the past few years. They're long sleep shirts that go almost to the knee. They have a screen print of a hot bikini babe's torso to make it look like the wearer has such a physique. Bought 1 for a girl once and it looked pretty hot on her! :D

BTW guys if you look at the HDR ... many many of the gals are carrying a shawl etc .... it is kinda like evolution. The smart will survive and bring a cover up .. the others will wither
