I'm planning my first trip towards the end of Feb. Been keeping an eye on airfare outta CLE on Contential airlines. The trip I am looking at has a transfer in Houston with enough time in between so that everything should go smooth. The rates have been between 527 and even as low as 507. Today, I checked in and the rate went up to 625. Whats up with this? The flight is nowhere fully booked. Did I miss out by waiting till things got a little closer or is this some kind of game the airlines play, figuring people like me will be more inclined to book once they re-lower the rate? Just wondering what they are thinking. Any suggestions when the best time to purchase is. Is 507 a good rate or should I hang in a while longer and hope it may go lower?

thanks

Dirty

two suggestions. go to travelocity and sign up for their farechaser package. it will email you the minute the fare drops . maybe only good for domestic flights I can't remember.

also you will have better luck going thru the airline website directly. much cheaper than expedia, orbitz etc . you may have already done that.

with crude oil prices dropping and jet fuel prices dropping it would seem like prices for fares should be dropping.

Use travelocity for the "farewatcher" and yes it can be used for international flights also.

Book directly thru the airlines website, this usually will save you a few bucks!

I to am watching air fares for an April trip. What I have noticed is the fares get cheaper the closer you get to the departure date.
