Get a vonage "soft phone" number. It's $10 a month, with a $10 setup. No fee to cancel. no time commitment.

It turns your computer (assuming you have wireless laptop) into a phone, basically. Plus, you can forward any other vonage number you have to the softphone #.

If you do this, invest in a good microphone/earphone headset.

I keep my softphone number active year-round, but only use it on international mongering trips.

If you just need to make outgoing calls, Skype works fine on a laptop at Presidente. It is about $13 (10 euros) for 600 or more minutes. I know this does not answer the Vonage question, but it is an alternative for Presidente.

When I was living in Cr I had no problem using my US #'s from CR with the cable modem. I would like to know how the wireless works in the hotels though and what the options are. PM me if you can. Thanks, DRD

If those of you that have technical input wouldn't mind answering these questions on the board instead of PMs it would be greatly appreciated.

We all realize this is not a techy website but undestanding these technologies versatility, limitations, features/benefits will help a lot of us know how to have "office days" in CR and other favorite spots. I think it's a thread that will benefit a lot of people over time. So thanks in advance.
