Did anyone see the craziness at Hotel Jaco last week? I'm shocked that this didn't get any attention.
Looks like the municipality basically ripped up the parking lot there, claiming it is public property. Sorry if facebook links aren't allowed. The first link is everything during the act. The second link is the after effect.

https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1A24phqfds/I know that Ticos are very proud and I can understand some of the resentment for all of the foreigners in the country and how they've distorted prices amongst other issues, but there must be a better way to handle this. I'm a little biased as I stayed at Hotel Jaco recently for the first time and was really impressed with the service, more discreet location, and quality of the rooms. Where are hotel guests supposed to park? The lot was full every night that I was there during the low season. Poor owner (and employees for that matter). I'm sure it put a dent in their ability to host guests. A majority of Ticos in the comments are in favor of the action. A few of the more reasonable ones rightfully question the act and can see the bigger picture. Who would invest in a place where they could just show up one day on a whim and destroy your property?
