Hola amigos!

Jacoret here. I have a client who wants to spend a few days in the Arenal Volcano area. Does anyone have any recent experience with nice accommodations there that won’t break the bank? I’m seeing CRAZY prices when looking via search engines.

He will not be mongering there but rather engaging in nature and touristy activities.

Mil gracias in advance

Pura Vida,

Jac

I have stayed at a few hotels, but my favorite is Los Lagos.

A great view of the volcano, different tiers for the hot springs. From scorching hot to just hot at the bottom that has a family vibe.

The breakfast was good, the drive to town was fast and easy with many options for food and activities.

One thing I did learn was the sloth experiences in town are most likely not ethical if that is important to them.

I did see sloths, butterflies and all types of birds at the resort.

some of the upper pools you can hide in and see if someone is approaching if he does choose to do anything. Just have to be very discreet.

I have stayed here and really enjoyed it. It is a little ways away 10 mins Driving (we had a rental car when we did this and it worked out great) from La Fortuna https://www.treehouseshotelcostarica.com/ as for things to do we enjoyed the https://donolivochocolatetour.net/ at 30.00 per person now was 25.00 but still I thought the education was worth it. Baldi Hot Springs is worth the Day Pass as well. We had a cooler in the SUV with beer, soda, water and food so we did not have to spend money on expensive food and drink at the resort. We only had the inconvience of walking out to the parking lot. You rent a locker inside the resort and put your valuables in that also when you rent towels it was a 10.00 per towel deposit which you get back when you leave and you can exchange your towels for dry ones as often as you like. It is worth finding the Steam room hidden in the rocks room for maybe 15 people, also when exiting look for the shower head for a cold shower coming out of the steam room. I hit that probably 7-8 times thoughout the day. Also the do not miss highlight of the trip was https://cavernasdelvenado.com/es. This is way out of the way and you will think you are lost but follow Waze as it was correct. This attraction was 25.00 per person when we did it and it has gone up to 35.00 per person. Still well worth the cost. I had my wife and 2 K*ds back in 2019 the K*ds were born in CR and have never left the country. My wife has lived in CR since she was 2 and all 3 could not belive anything like that exists on earth let alone in Costa Rica. Here is a link to the thread I posted in back in 2019. viewtopic.php?f=11&t=51693&hilit=cavernas As for food for quality and value La Parada de Autobus in La Fortuna was a place we ate at multiple times https://www.facebook.com/restauranteypi ... cale=es_LA
