I've been trying to plan out my trip in December and wanted to stay at Hotel Cocal & Casino, but the website I used years ago, http://hotelcocalandcasino.com/, doesn't seem to be working. The USA phone numbers also don't seem to work (unless its just me). Did something change? How does everyone else book a room there?

Also I'm flying our on Dec 15th and am spliting my time between Jaco and San Jose, 16 days worth. I plan on staying 4 days at the end at Hotel Castillo and 12 days in Jaco. Do you think that's too much time in Jaco and I should increase the time in San Jose?

Last time I was there years ago I just went to Jaco and spent my free time scuba diving or chilling at the pool, but I was with a group of other divers and this time I'm not.

The Cocal website has always been substandard. About the only thing they update are the room prices. The link to booking does seems broken, but it was always a problem. It only went to online booking of the Vista Mar condos. Hotel rooms have never been online booking.

I’ve also had issues with their US numbers, but that’s been a few years. I call the Costa Rica number, you get charged for an international call, but it does go through. Or email, they have been good about answering for me in the past.

Cocal manages to stay full at inflated prices. Therefore I’m sure they do not see the difficulties booking as their problem.

If your timeline is to be in either Jaco or SJ from Christmas to New Years, you better have some amigas lined up in advance during this time as most, if not all, are at home with their family and/or on vacation.

Thanks guys. I sent them an email the other day, but I haven't heard back yet. I'll have to try and call the Costa Rica phone numbers to see if I can get a hold of them that way. I just assumed maybe the website was no longer being used, but I guess the real answer is they just don't care that's its broken.

I've got no one lined up in Costa Rica. I will be there just before X-Mas and then plan to head to Medellin to see what all the talk is about there. I imagine maybe I can get some stuff lined up when I arrive. Normally I'm in South East Asia, usually Thailand, but it was hard to get into until just recently (before I booked most of this trip). Besides, I wanted something new so I figured I'd try Central/South America. I imagine most of December, outside of Christmas, should be fine for meeting women. If no ladies, I'll just spend my time playing video games on my computer outside being at the bar or exploring somewhere through a trip. Its better than being alone in Seattle and gives me some downtime after the Q4 madness.

The Cocal web site you identified in the original post, sucky as it is, is coming up fine for me. I am in CR, but when I run Tracert it goes from TIGO to Cogentco.com in the US to yourhostingaccount.com in Boston. There are 22 hops, but no latency over 110ms.

It could be a networking issue on your end. Re-boot router, PC, clear cache then check for a loose nut on your keyboard.

Over the holiday portion of the trip I think you will have much better luck an San Jose than Jaco. 90+ percent of the women in Jaco actually live somewhere else. A high percentage will return home for the holidays.

In San Jose the women are more likely to visit one of the gringo venues to get some holiday cash. And you can always find someone in the many pensiones around the city.

A large percentage of the Cocal putas who charge $100.00- $150.00 there also work in San Jose and charge much less. I know more than one.

Thanks everyone.

I ended up getting a hold of them through my work email. My personal email must have been hitting there spam or something as I never received a reply through it.

I'll spend about half my time in Jaco and the other half in San Jose based upon what everyone said. I'm really doing Jaco as weekend to a weekend trip (figuring more girls are there then). Then trying to do the beginning and end of the trip, which is through the week, in San Jose, especially since the end of the trip is closer to the holidays.

After this trip for me its off to Columbia and then back to Thailand with them opening up. I hope Costa Rica is fun.

With that much time, you might get bored in Jaco and SJO. Maybe grab a hottie (or three), a driver or car and head south and see some of Costa Rica? Lots of unspoiled beaches, waterfalls and magic places out there.

The Festival of Lights parade is always a good time to be in San Jose. It used to be the second Saturday of December not sure with Covid if it is still scheduled. Most of the girls were in town for the parade and not in Jaco. The glutch is dead on New Years eve.

At this point, no Festival of Lights or Horse Parade. Given the amount of planning involved, I don't expect that to change. Yes to the festivals in Zapote including the bull fights. Anyone with a vaccination certificate and insurance can jump in the ring. There will also be fans in the stands, but I plan to watch it on TV.

If I find someone pretty and interested in doing that I will. I can't party 24/7 though. Sometimes I'm just going to want to stay in and chill or I might even have to do some work on my computer. I'm hopefully it can be a bit like Thailand where I can find a girl who wants to see me often, but not someone who wants to just get wasted every day. Otherwise I'll go to the bar areas and see what I can find when I want it.
