Digging deeper into this, we have found that many government officials own taxi cabs and rent them out on a daily basis to the drivers. This is why there is so much resistance to UBER.
I have always compared this situation to where the government outlaws cellphones and requires everyone to continue using payphones (because the government officials own the pay phones)
Uber; with better technology, better service, pre-set prices, and accountability is competing against the taxis with poor service, no accountability, unknown pricing/rigged meters, etc...
There is a new app; showing an estimated fare, locations, and a complaint 'hot line" that taxis can sign up for, that will try and compete with Uber.
Meanwhile, many thousands of UBER drivers in CR are contributing to the economy, working an honest job, helping their families, paying the gasoline prices and taxes, and providing a benefit to the society as a whole. But sometimes logic is different in CR
