Hotel Presidente is NOT chica friendly.

Once upon a time, in a San Jose far, far away...

The Presidente was, once, a long time ago. But it hasn't been for many years.

The Sleep Inn has a very high chica fee ($25 or $35) and has you fill out a form with your passport information.

Take Netgems advise, but add Castillo to the list.

The Presidente was my favorite place, many years ago. Then I switched to La Amistad. But after many years of thinking downtown was the place to be, I started staying in La Sabana; The Park Inn, KC Hotel and Hotel Autentico. If you have a regular that doesn't look like a Delrey girl, the clerks don't bat an eye.

I still go downtown to meet up with the guys, and I use La Oficina and Asia for quickies

If you enjoy the pensions, you don't have to stay downtown
An Uber downtown is 1,700 colones .
