Don't be a Tube.....

Ok warped sense of humor. You know that place is like a Hostel correct...... If you are planning on 1 night you probably wont get much grief but you wont know till you show up. Do you really want to parade through areas with your girl that other non mongering people are visiting in. If you need to keep your budget in the 35.00 range for the room you might want to consider upgrading a little and checking out the prices at Hotel Little Havana. I know in the past you could get a room there for as little as 35-50.00 a night but that was with different owners. Otherwise best value is by far La Amistad with the all inclusive for about 90.00 a night. You pay more initially but if you eat all your meals and drink most of your alcohol there you will be money ahead.

Oh and Little Havana not at all accessible on-line...

You do not get top shelf unless you pay extra, but your domestic beer, well drinks and house wine are included. Bring your top shelf with you from the airport and leave it at the bar for them to pour for you. La Amistad's food alone is worth it even if you only eat 1 meal a day there. My friends usually eat 2-3 meals a day there though and love it. I like to try new places and it is hard to do when you know you are getting very good quality food and have already paid for it.

Call Zona2 as apparently they are now running the show next door.

Since I have the ears and eyes of esteemed and qualified University professors  , I will go ahead and ask my question:

Just looked up and the weather looks shitty throughout Costa Rica btw...)

After 3-4 nights in SJ was going drive down Quepos way and return. En-route am sure there will be tica points of attraction (perhaps not as crazy as in certain Thai provinces but that is digression:) or maybe even if a certain hottie at HDR wants a ride, who am I to not oblige?

And after I was going to another road trip, this time on the Caribbean coast to Bocas del Toro Panama. There has to be great moments of we*d smoking out there!

We shall see, am excited for the upcoming 2-wk trip!

I do not know what part of the country you live in, but the beauty of Costa Rica is, even if the Weather looks shitty it is still pleasent. If it is raining it is still usually warm, but it is advisable to have an umbrella. For me shorts and flipflops are still quite comfortable unless you are high up in the mountains, ie (Peace Lodge). San Jose and especially the beach, you should be fine even during the rainy season. You might want to head a little further south than Quepos and check out Dominical. You will find more of the pot smoking surfer type there that are fun to party with. Also there is a great resturant/brewery there called Fuego. later at night there is a bar just before you make the turn to head to the beach on the right that has a couple of pool tables and you will find the party continues late there. There should be girls there that you could hook up with as well, pros and non- pros/vacationers. I would suggest renting a car though and having transportation available as you will want to move around. Check out Uvita as well.

Bocas is fun for a bit...but plan for a full, very full day to get there. Actually, best plan for 2 days....get to Puerto Viejo for the night, then get to the border well before noon. Been a while since I was there...but there is some red tape in crossing the border, and various means of transport to be considered. Unless you fly from San Jose...then it might be easier.
