I just spent 2 awesome nights in the (non-chica-friendly) Hotel Presidente's Executive Spa suite. It's about $120 a night (incl.tax), and is a very nice, clean, comfortable place.

The only negative was the noise from the window (directly over Avenida Central). There was a band banging drums outside of the Claro store until 8pm. Not really the hotel's fault, but it needs to be said.

The room had a separate living room, dual A/C's, and a large jacuzzi tub. 3 distinct sizes of pillow so you'd be comfortable. Very professional, but not quite 'home'.

The La Amistad suites I have stayed in beats it HANDS DOWN!

Do you think they will ever let us back in, how crowded was it with regular tourists?

They do not want our business anymore. They check id's of women entering. An old monger told me that they even carded him when going up to visit a friend, so they clearly don't want the 'Puchos' business either.

They are also doing lots of renovations, so money's coming in. But I'd not call it busy at all. I barely saw anyone else.
