Some of you are probably worried about Veneto's chica fee they instituted last year. I just booked a room with Veneto for November. Here is the transcript from my back and forth email conversation with their management :

Hello,
My friends and I have stayed at your hotel 4 times in the past and would like to stay there again on our upcoming trip in November.
Someone has told me that you now have instituted a new rule that everytime you take a lady into your hotel room, a fee of $50 is charged.
Can you please tell me if is part of your new pricing or if it is just a rumour ?

Thank you for your email. And thank you for being our loyal repeat customer.
There is an additional registration requirement to register any visitors to your room, as a safety measure for all of our guests, we must know who is in the room. The charge for that additional registration is , at this time $40 plus tax, but I do believe that may be changing shortly. If you’d like to check back closer to your trip, I can confirm if the charge has been eliminated. If you would like to book a group trip (3 or more rooms), please let me know and I can extend to you some special pricing, and perhaps include a little party room for the group, depending on the size.
Please let me know how I may be of service to help plan another great trip to Veneto.
Cheers
Irene

Thankyou for your quick reply. Yes, all 4 of us were planning on making our booking in the first week of August since we have never been dissatisfied with the Veneto hotel. I have just spoken with them and unfortunately we are all in agreement that we can not support this pricing structure as this would affect our trip to a degree where we won't be able to gamble as much or buy drinks at the bar. I will email you back in a few weeks and see if this fee still exists. If it does we will be forced to take our business elsewhere.
Have a good day

I can offer you a great rate to help compensate for that, but let’s keep our eye on this issue and circle back. Thanks again for your business

Can you please let me know the rate that you have in mind?

$160 plus tax for 3 nights per guy

WOW ! Thats fantastic. There are 4 of us coming and our dates will have us arriving on*** the ***November 2015 and leaving on the morning of ****, the ****November 2015. The names/email addresses are as follows :

Ill book you,, send yo confirmiations later.

So there you have it fellow CRTers, just play a little hardball and they will slash the room price in half to accommodate you. If you take one girl a day to your room, you break about even (with the chica fee). If you go to outside MPs, you will actually save money.

Thanks for the information.

To me it says "take your business elsewhere"... A $40 plus tax elevator fee, just to know "who's in your room"? You've got to be kidding me! They are trying to kill the monger business.

No, they're not. They are trying to cash in on the monger business. If they wanted to get rid of it, they would do what the Presidente in San Jose did, and ban it completely.

Ok, technically you may be right on their intentions. However, they must really believe the price elasticity for room fees is sky high!

I think you meant to say that they believe that price elasticity is low, meaning that their product/service is inelastic. A price increase won't affect demand for their product much. That's because I don't think there are many good hotel options in the middle of the action.

You are right Orange! I meant to say highly inelastic there...but in any case, if as you say, there aren't any other convenient monger lodging options, they might be right and get away with that kind of customer abuse... :(

A defining statement from a limited imagination. It actually affects everything we do, aware of it or not. Go back to posting or playing the Blues, and leave adult convos to adults.
