avianca formerly taca/lacsa is a lot different imo.
out of LA they immediately stopped the non stops and while its not a huge deal otw down, it is a big deal as far as purchases made in CR coming back.
i had never stopped in Guatemala going back and was told by CR vendors at the airport that they would take away any bottles of alcohol purchased in CR. i didn't actually see it happen to anyone but i didn't buy any to find out. i like bringing back some 20yr centanario for friends to try. oh all right i don't share it

they did make us get off the plane and walk the airport w our carry on doing full search again. stupid and a pain in the ass but i guess its all on the US customs anyway.
avianca also didn't serve alcohol on the way down. they said it was morning and while it was 1am i tend to like a stiff drink or two to fall asleep on the red eye.
might be small things for some but i'm trying delta non stop this time fwiw.
