Stayed at Mona Lisa for two nights. The rooms and common areas were very nice and the staff was very accommodating. Nothing to complain about. It was spacious, quiet and comfortable.

It is not clear whether the adjacent restaurant is affiliated with the hotel. In any event, my one meal there was very disappointing. There was a good reason no one else was there.

The bar and casino were utilized, but certainly not busy. But then again, none of the other hotels (except HDR) seemed busy either. On Friday night, things picked up and there were some women there.

I went to the Del Rey twice to find girls. It is a short taxi ride. Each time the ride back to ML was an opportunity to treat the meeting as more of a "date", and each time the girl was very positive about the ML. They appreciated the nicer surroundings and nicer treatment. There was a visitor "check-in, but no fee. On one occasion, we had room service from the bar (at no extra charge except a good tip).

In total, to me, bringing a girl to the Mona Lisa was dramatically nicer than hanging around a noisy and dirty Del Rey.

Last time I stayed there, I ate breakfast one day, which was good & had dinner one night, which was just average. As the OP said, the common areas are nice, don't know about the rooms. Would consider staying there if La Amistad was booked.

In my humble opinion, the MONA LISA should have kept the room price at $50. This way you're getting a nicer hotel at a lower price. After 6 months or so then they could have raised the price if there occupancy rates were high.

I like the ML, stayed there in Feb. when standard king was $49. Now the standard with 2 queen is $69 and a king is $89. There are better options at those prices.

cheers,
Attila

I have too agree that there are better options. The place is too big to be an intimate monger area. Look at the monger models of the Sportsman's or Dunn Inn. HDR also, which is the foundation, regardless of what we think of it. ML lacks the intimacy. The cost is just too high. Yes, rooms in the US are much higher comparatively, but a monger takes into account all these costs before they travel and think they are saving money but blow it all on the CIEN SYNDROME as they Phuck it up for all the old salts.

they take the time and effort to advertise on the site but don't bother to address any of the issues and questions about the place. makes me thinking they are too busy bailing water.
