I'm not sure about the HDR and banning.

This was my first trip in five years. Much has changed in CR in that time. I was staying at the SL, and went to the HDR a couple of times. I sessioned with one from there and talked to a few more. Two days later there were 4-5 ladies at the SL who I had spoken to, or been with, from the HDR. Two of them had never been to the SL before I spoke to them about it. They all were hitting on me in hopes of making money. This had never happened in my ten previous trips to CR. What it told me was these ladies were not making any money at the HDR, and thought they had a better chance at the SL in taking some from this old fart. They were following the money trail. If the HDR had been busy they would have never left.

IMO, the number of women, and probably mongers, was way down from five years ago. While before they would have never left the HDR to chase money, it was not unusual this trip for me.

Having said that I had some very good sessions, and one with a beautiful Tica (yes I mean a CR lady). I would put her in the top five for beauty that I have been with in my life. I do not give 10's but she was a 9.95. She is 23, no K*ds, beautiful skin, and skin color, huge naturals, jet black hair that almost appeared blue, very tight body, and very compliant in la cama. I would bet though that she would be YMWV (will vary) though, as she told me that "She does not go with just any man". I had to laugh at that and tell her while she is beautiful, was she blind? While the women of MDE are generally prettier (IMO), this woman was hotter than any I have been with in MDE. A true diamond in the rough.

Anyway, from my last trip I found out that the ladies will travel around to follow the money.

Not sure what you mean by that comment.

If you are saying that the ban is not material because the chicas will will move on because the HDR is no longer the cash cow for them that it was you might be correct.

If by that you mean they can not ban girls from entering this thread may give you some insight into discrimination in Costa Rica.

I go with most of your first option. I would not say that it has no effect though since it may keep some from doing it. I don't really care though. It was just an oberservation on my part. Mine was just a wild ass guess since women five years ago women from the HDR never followed me to the SL, and I doubt that I have gotten better looking, and I know I haven't gotten slimmer in the past five years.

I have little doubt that the HDR can ban any woman/person for just about any reason they see fit. I also do not care about that, nor discrimination in CR, since I doubt I will return soon (I failed to read the thread).

Thank you for your input in clearing up my post. If anyone else has a question about what I wrote, feel free to try and help me clear up my muddled mind.

I am currently staying at the ML and I must second what Travalot stated, their are definitely a few kinks that they are working out, but the staff at the front counter are great and Guy is busting his ass to make sure that everyone feels welcome and has a good time. Any problems are fixed on the spot and word of mouth is very important. Overall, I like it much better than the old Clarion and hope this hotel has a ton of success in the future.

My thoughts after a brief stay:

-At least one bad apple working behind the bar. I saw a guy order an Imperial and give her 10 mil. She returned with 5 mil change. He started to walk away and then realized "Hey, beer costs $10??" She said "Sorry, I thought you ordered something different." An honest mistake?

But...a little later I asked for my check from the same girl. I had eaten a casado and ordered around 8-10 beers over the course of the evening between myself and a few ladies. She brought a scrap of paper with some hand-written scribble saying I owed 45 mil. I said can you please print out a receipt from the computer. She rolled her eyes and came back with the actual check, this time showing the proper amount. Once again "Sorry, I thought you were someone else."

Yeah, right.

(BTW, is the chef not Tico? The casado was lacking some key components.)

-I didn't find any sweethearts among the girls. Everyone I talked to was jaded as hell. When they weren't coming at me with the same tired empty sales pitch, they were bitching and gossiping amongst themselves about the other venues they had worked. I'm a little concerned ML is just going to be a reunion of HDR/SL rejects.

The one girl I found tolerable and invited to my room, she immediately left in a huff when I refused to pay upfront. lulz

-The rooms badly need remodeling to be in the same class as HLH or LA. They are spacious and nice big windows. Aside from the TV, the rest of the room is 20+ years outdated. It didn't even have a safe. When I asked about it, they brought me up a loose security box, as if that serves any function besides being a bright red bullseye.

-The lobby, bar and casino areas have a pleasant open vibe. The parking area is the best I've seen, very secure and direct access to the rooms.

-I had been looking forward to playing poker but no games went during my stay.

All-in-all, good potential here but lots of work still needed. Honestly I don't see the place being a huge success but I hope I am wrong. It's going to take deep pockets and patience.

Mono Lisa is now $ 69.99 plus tax or $ 78.08 something like that including tax. Also watch out for George a manager at the hotel he seems to be a little off and scolds people in public and makes a scene in the bar. Other than that a very nice place

visited ML yesterday and it was really nice. did not check out rooms but the outdoor area is really nice to relax at.
it still feels like a very new place lacking in cohesion but everyone from the doormen to the one bartender in our side was great. in fairness it was only one guy because we were the only ones in that side of the hotel. its quite cavernous.
enjoyed talking to Thomas and Guy and hope everything goes well for them.
it appeared to be a lot of the same SL girls there on both sides of the bar fwiw. did not try the food because we ate at DI watching the comedy show. that was something different and i think its on every thursday.
one thing i noticed for sure is that the area is way different from the SL LA area. i walked w a buddy of mine directly around the corner for a quick toke at his place and on the way back a car full of ticos raced around the corner right in front of me w a guy hanging out the window with both hands flipping me off. nice. and a moment later a car with ticas came the opposite direction and they were shouting shit i couldnt understand. in all the years of travelling to CR i have never had anything close to that happen.
i know it could happen anywhere but that does seem to be a bit of a rough area compared to others. maybe it was just bad timing.

For those who are unfamiliar with the relationship between Chicas and the HDR. I have no doubt that they would ban chicas from free enterprise. Some time back the HDR banned any chica that "they" deemed too fat. They also tried to get more business at the Monkey Bar by requiring a chica to buy a drink there and bring a receipt to get into the Blue Marlin.
