I found this to be a great deal for $20. If you are checking out of your hotel room, or flying out of SJO and looking for something to do to pass some time, this is a great deal. It's across from gate #4. You get all you can eat continental breakfast, all the soda, juice and coffee you can drink, 1 free alcohol drink, (i had red wine) and free internet access. also the have sofas, lounge chairs and tables. Not a plug, just saying that it is an option to the high priced Burger King and Papa Johns.

There was one downstairs by the now closed smoking bar but I think it was for a dedicated airline(s)?

Same place?

As an aside, can arriving passengers still get to the gate level Duty Frees? I know plans are that you get tunneled straight to immigration so that you can't "mingle/hand-off" with departing folks and thus can't access the two Duty Frees. Implemented yet?

OK thanks MH, that means to me to get to the front of the pack without being rude so that you can get to the lower level duty free quickly after immigration. I know they were expanding that LL Duty Free--but still it'll get crowded especially if there's other flights at the same time.

There was an article in today's AM CR about their profits and plans for additions, hopefully another one downstairs?

That lounge is also in the priority pass network if you're a member or have free passes. It's not that great compared to a lot of other lounges, but it still feels like an oasis when at SJO. During football season they usually have the NFL games on some of the TVs. They also have a pretty good paid menu if you can't fill up on the free finger foods or want something different.
