I've stayed at HLH a few times now and I have to say that Greg and Jim have been EXCELLENT when it comes to taking care of guests......I DO have a minor gripe about getting BBD'd by a Chica when I went for more Colones tho...........LOL

Monica is on MY menu for next time, thanks guys for making it fun, and Myrtlegolf.....fear not, you WILL come away satisfied, and Jim had the Chicken Parm when I was sitting next to him and it looked and smelled FANTASTIC!! (I kinda think he enjoyed it too!)

Slinky, this is what I've personally heard first hand and read on this board from people that have actually stayed there.

Why should someone post a misleading 'Headline' that reads "Problems" under the Hotels section ?

To you - and probably me - what the OP posted does not rise to the level of "Problems" - but I'm done figuring out what goes on in peoples minds (not done calling them out for being fools, just wasting time figuring out why  :P  ) I don't think the OP is a fool BTW - he encountered a problem, identified it, got agreement from management that it was a problem, and an apology as well as a plan so its unlikely to recour in the future (yeah, right   ) - so the guy was not crazy, just perhaps a tad uptight and new in the ways of Latin America.

I travel with a guy - we have been going to CR for 15 years; he for even longer - and he has the same uptight personality - so even with experience, some guys are what they are - done figuring out him too

I have no quarrel with the guy ranting here. I have no quarrel with the guy asking questions, or being upset, or nervous, or just about anything else he wants to say.

But.

That headline is very Alarming. Kind of like yelling "Fire".

That headline required action from every patron of the HLH.

Everyone needed to open that to see what kind of problems they may need to avoid.

If someone has room reservations there and sees that headline, they need to open it to see what the "Problems" are.

Remember, He said he made a phone call, ONE PHONE CALL, and the desk clerk was at lunch so security answered. BFD x 100.
Remember, He said he sent a PM through an internet message board and didn't get an answer. BFD. Go to HotelLittleHavana.com and send and email.

To Recap: Yelling or Headlining "Problems" is not the correct way to get simple questions and concerns answered.
Plus, that headline, to most, looks like he stayed there and had problems.

Sat in on an online marketing seminar recently. It was mostly about social media marketing and getting out your message online in general. I think it applies over a broader spectrum too. The huge message was that if you beat people over the head constantly with your message or product, it eventually becomes very uneffective. If you do it too much, your audience turns against you and absolutely sets their mind against what you are promoting. Just something to think about. :D

I'll subscribe to this pov, for sure. My previous office decided they wanted to change how the staff was paid & tried to tie it to a "scorecard" type of system. They went over it so much that most of the staff just tuned them out & refused to buy into it.

Greg I look forward to my upcoming visit. Although I have stayed at the Dunn Inn (twice), Hotel La Amistad, Holiday Inn and Presidente
I don't consider myself a veteran but neither a newbie. I appreciate all the answers to my questions. To those engrossed with my use of
the word Problem I suggest you pay Mr. Webster a visit for my choice of wordage. I certainly do not have an "issue", as in a point
of debate or controversy with Greg or the hotel. I did have a problem, a question raised for consideration or solution, with the hotel
reservations procedures and ability to get questions answered. Since there is not contact information on the site, other than a phone
number I turned to the CRT site. Ironically I decided to book with HLH based on the recommendations and praises sung here. I have
never met anyone in the "gulch" whom I couldn't share a beer, listen to their advise or recommendations or share a laugh. It is really
funny to see the reactions to the use of one word, misunderstood by many. For me I look forward to being in San Jose again and
meeting more CRT members. Nuff said

I had nothing but a great service from the HLH.
My upcoming trip will be the first to CR and after many months of research on this board, I decided on staying at HLH. I initially inquired about a room on the website. The very next day I received a call from the front desk about the availability. It was a little difficult to understand the conversation but what do you expect, it's a foreign county. Spanish is the primary language and I'm okay with that.

There have been many discussions here in my neck of the woods concerning official language and what we expect others to speak in the states. So I have no problem with language barrier.

By the way, Greg called me and did his very best to accommodate my short notice and I am looking forward to meeting him and shaking his hand.

myrtlegolf,
Thats great your staying at HLH and got good results from Greg. I love staying there and is my place of choice to stay. Always get great service and the staff is always right onto of any problems tyou may have. I was very concerned that someone was tellingyouto retract your subject on what they considered to be inapropriate. Im sure your gonna have a blast there.

Another great thing I like about the Hotel Little Havana and the Historic Sportsman's Lodge is that my visiting friends from the USA can go there while I'm working and there is not drama or 'stories'. No falling in love, no $2000 strip club tabs, No getting mugged on Calle 6, etc.

Kinda like a day care for adults. :)
