Why not contact the DelRey? Do a google search and then call or e-mail them. Different roons have different prices. It depends on what you like. Keep in mind that they charge for each trip up the elevator with a chica. Have a nice time.

Actually the question brings up a great point - sometimes, hotels have "unadvertised specials" that you might not know about unless you ask - or in the case of the HDR, they for some time have had the $55 standard room rate - if you call and book a room and are quoted say, $65/night - you would be well served to reply, you don't still have the $55/night rate?

And while I don't particularly care for the place, agree everyone shold experience it once - good point about the guest fee - take 2 guests to your room a day and a basic (emphisis on basic) not too expensive $55 room becomes $75++ And candidly, thats too much for what you get - still, everyone should experience a night or two at the DR :)

I called last month for the price of a deluxe room on the 4th floor and was quoted $125 a night with taxes

Dunes - ask for Julius Caesar when you get in, he always discounts my room rate. even if you are already are in the room, stop by when he is at the desk and ask for a lower rate. it's hard to miss him, because his name is tattooed on his arm

Dunes......

Some people would say that HLH is ground zero, especially at Happy Hour. HLH is about 4 blocks from HDR.

You could find that HLH is a better place to stay than HDR. It depends on your style. Reservations at HLH on short notice can be a problem because of its popularity.

With the specials at HLH, the room prices are better than HDR, and the rooms are more modern, too.

Drink prices are cheaper during the 2 Happy Hours each day at HLH. Those are the best drink prices in SJ.

Bruce's great cigar shop is right inside HLH.

You can bring chicas to your HLH room from ANYWHERE ( even from the HDR ) with no chica fee if you pay $39 for a CRT VIP one year membership card. HDR has a chica fee for each girl who you take into the elevator.

The girls from the HLH line-up are $35 for an hour on your own HLH sheets as a CRT VIP member. Several HLH girls are ALL-STARS. Propina is voluntary and extra, above the fixed $35 price. For the most part, you'll WANT TO give propina to the HLH girls.

The HLH bar closes at 10pm every day, so you can sleep or entertain without the all-night "city noise" that you'd often have at the HDR. Or you can venture out, around town all night, and come back to your room at any time with a gaggle of delights.

There are many other reasons why, IMHO, HLH is a better place to stay than HDR. But I won't bore 'yall with those details unless you PM me.

Believe it or not, Greg doesn't pay me one colone ( or anything else ) to say this.

I know this is off topic because the guy asked clearly for Del Rey information which I believe for a first time visitor is the place to stay. Well remember my first 3 years of staying there 1998-2000 . I have since stayed 3 years at Presidente and the last 9 years at Morazan .
Here is what I am getting too. On the web site Hostelbookers.com you can get a private room / private bathroom " deluxe superior suite " whatever that means for 1 person $ 34.00 per night including breakfast. No chica fee. So I can stay there 3 nights for $ 108 total. Not the best place have stayed two nights when Morazan was full but for the money I am going to give it a try next visit. This is a great web site Hostelbookers.com for around the world. Check it out. Everyone have a great weekend. Uncle H.
This is the edit I did not mention the place in the ad is Hotel Europa

Herman, it was posted that the Morazon (a favorite of mine too :) ) had a rate of $35/night for a standard room - not sure if they still do, but since its still "Green Season" may be worth a call - or checking their site - even if not listed, I'd still call and ask - if they do, I would not bother with any place with hostel in the name- if you do, ask about their guest policy assuming you plan to "entertain" in your room

Also - one block from the Morazon (less actually) is Hotel Diana - across from Parque Morazon - they had large, fairly basic, rooms w/ bath for $35/night - If Morazon has the $35 special, that would settle it for me - but Hotel Diana may also be worth a look - again, nothing fancy; furniture looks a little run down, but a great location - also a nice massage/spa (100% legit :o  ) operation run by a very pretty Colombiana - her boyfriend manages the hotel :) Post back on what you decide.
