Do you have the Spirit Mastercard ? With the Mastercard there are periods of time (granted not too many of them) that are "Off peak" and only cost 2500 miles each way. The "Off peak" is ONLY available to MC holders. Pisses me off that the next award is FOUR TIMES that, 10,000 miles each way.
I forget the schedule of fees because I only got a "free" ticket one time so far but I believe that for booking 21 or more days in advance the fee is only $15 but maybe that may also only be for MC holders.
Actually, I did have the Spirit M/C - even with the card, w/ the 15k miles they "give" you for signing up, it was impossible to get a flight at 2500, or even 5k - assuming I did not want to fly Christmas @ 3:00 AM
- checked it out and it was a giant hassle - plus, they screwed me out of miles (too long and boring of a story
).
Lets just say that geiing anything out of Spirit is not easy
