Gentlemen,

Taking a group to Jaco, I usually stay at Canciones del mar but they don't have rooms for my group this time. I will need 5 rooms or something that can accomodate 10 guys.

I thought Hotel Poseidon would be good but when I attempted to reach "Jack of 3rd World" both the number and the email weren't valid and it says in our VIP discounts that in order to receive our 10% and "no chica" fee we had to book thru him. Any suggestions here?

I've contacted hotel cocal too and am waiting for their response. I want something in town, I need a bed for each guy, sharing a room isnt a big deal, A/C, TV, reasonably priced and no problems regarding "visitors".

I need something for the weekend of January the 13th ie; 13th and 14th, 2 nights. Anybody have a "guy" or suggestions, let me know either here or pm me.

Thanks,

Jac

Jacoret or anyone else:

I too could use some insight into Jaco accomodations. I havent done all my reading yet, but since this discussion has already started then some more details would be greatly appreciated. I have Never been to CR before, but have been researching for a couple months now and had a week long San Jose trip all mapped out for March.

As a result of some conversations I've had this weekend I think my trip has changed to Jaco instead. The vast majority of information available is on San Jose so now I have to start my research and planning all over again :)

What were the two places you usually stay that were booked? Any reason you prefer them?
We are looking for some place nice (relatively) that also doesnt have any problem or fees regarding guests. If there are any all inclusive packages I'd be interested in hearing about details of that too.

Im starting my own lookups today, but thought I would post this to get some responses trickling in.
Thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions, advice, and insights!

Tech-

It strictly comes down to price brother. How much you wanting/willing to spend a night? and are you rolling solo?

It's just myself and a buddy.
When I first started looking I was shopping in San Jose and was HOPING for a 2 bedroom suite for the two of us. It seemed that something like that was going to be more affordable than getting two separate single rooms. I was able to find some reasonable stuff for under $200 a night. Looking at Jaco now it's a little more expensive, but I would still love to keep it under $100 per person per night. Someone let me know if I am way off the mark.

From looking around just in the past couple hours it's starting to look like a condo or weekly rental apartment is going to be the best value for what we were hoping for. Like Monte Carlo condos (listed on BeatleBar's website) is incredibly reasonable and I am assuming that since it's suggested by BeatleBar there is no hassle for guests.

I'm open to suggestions. My biggest concern is the hassle/fees for guests. My buddy is more concerned about location (beach, bars, safety, etc)

Tech,

I'm partial to Canciones del mar, but let me say up front, there is a 10-15 dollar chica fee to bring a girl back. It is one of the nicest larger boutique hotels around, great pool area very tropical/rainforesty, most suites have a separate sitting area and full kitchen, it's right on the beach and a 5 minute walk to the Beatle Bar or a 1 min taxi ride. They serve a cooked to order breakfast included, there is a rooftop resturant and bar along with a 10 person jacuzzi up there that looks out on the ocean. The new wing faces the ocean, the rooms are nicer but more expensive but still under 100 a guy. The older wing faces the pool/garden and the rooms are whatever but do the job. The staff is phenomenol and go the extra mile to make sure you're satisfied. There is night time security that has you sign in your girl but sometimes youre lucky and he's walking his rounds when you show and you get her up without the fee. The reason i'm not staying there this time is that we have too big a group and they dont have enough rooms with 2 queen beds each to accommodate us all. I hope this helps, good luck!

Pura Vida,

Jac

PS. For a first trip, I would not spend all my time in Jaco, maybe Friday and Saturday night but i'd do Sunday thru Thursday in San Jose, there's plenty to do including day trips that get you out of the city if that's your desire.

I have stayed at this place twice:

http://www.oceansbahiaencantada.com/

it is the next building north of Claritas. Real nice condos, nice furnishings ect. They allow chicas but you have to take them in after a certain time (9 pm?) and then they want them out early the next morning.

We negotiated a 3 bedroom/2.5 bath condo a couple months ago for a little under $200/nite. If you have enough people it can really make the stay inexpensive.
