I have taken the bus quite a number of times. Two times out of SJO. I haven't ever seen them stop to pick up near airport that I remember.

That depends on which bus. When I was in Granada last January the Tica bus that left Granada around 11 or noon, forget the exact time, came back on the new San Jose/Caldera highway which does not go past the airport. Can not say about going to Granada as I came to Granada from Guatemala.

Tica bus terminal is on avenida 1 and about calle 28. Near the Torre Mercedes now the Scotia Bank tower on Paseo Colon. Close to Coca Cola only about 6 blocks west.

Have you checked their web site http://www.ticabus.com/ingles.html

They have a feature where you can chat live with an agent who can answer your questions. I think a few, not all, of their buses stop in Alajuela on the way to Nicaragua. Not sure they stop at the airport but even if you have to go to Alajuela it is easier and cheaper then going to San Jose if the schedule works for you.

I took the Tica bus to Granada and return to San Jose. The cost was $56.00 round trip . I had to pay entry fee into Nicaragua while on bus believe it was $8.00 or so each direction. People say Kingsway is better ride for just a few dollars more. We did not return on road by San Jose airport. Beware of the taxi drivers when you get off bus in Granada, they will overcharge you. should be two dollars to Hotel. They try to charge $8-$10 . Tell them to phuck off. A reasonable taxi will come soon. I am flying into Managua my trip end of next month. Unless I go to Panama and pick up mini van that i am buying from a friend to take to Nicaragua. Then I will drive from panama to San Jose and on to Granada. I am wanting to stay a month this time .
