SL now charges a 35 dollar chic fee.....just not worth it anymore....I was getting the room for 70 bucks with discounts.......I have always liked this hotel because it's clean and close to the action...no mas....

I'm confused (not unusual for me) You say
"SL" (Sportsmans Lodge)and talk about the Sleep Inn. I assume its the Sleep Inn that you are talking about. I approached the manager of the Sleep Inn when they first opened, to extend a courtesy to CRT VIPs with no chica fee. He told me that the owners insisted on a fee for them in the rooms. I thought it was ALWAYS $35

Chica fee has been extensively reported as being $25.00 over the years. Raising it to $35.00 is an ominous sign that they really do not want mongers staying in their hotel. Holiday Inn took that approach constantly raising the "guest" fee until it reached such a ridiculous level mongers said why bother.

WOW! I do not think they are sending a message I think they are yelling it at the top of their lungs. That is almost $40.00 for the "privilege" of having a guest in the room you have already paid for.

I was contemplating staying at the SI next time for their $70 special but with the new chica fee of $35 it tilts it into the no go category for me. Paying the 35 would just irk me every time I did it and would chill the experience. I don't like the El Presidente anti-monger trend that seems to be happening. Thank goodness for the monger friendly hotels. Doom on the other ones.
Also to my friend Greengo, I have recently purchased a used Enigma machine that was used in WWII and can now decipher your posts twice as fast. :D

I've stayed exclusively at the SI on a couple of trips, by that point I was only going to ZB/HLH for my chica fun so the then $25 fee didn't affect me. Worked great until one night Laura and Karen wanted to come over for some after-hours fun (had already spent some time at Castro's). :D Turned out the SI didn't allow two chicas at a time (saw that as a good thing actually). Off to Motel Eden we went, oops, it's a Friday the 15th ("fucky fucky Friday" in the words of Karen), the place is completely full, so we went to Motel Las Arcadas instead.

The SI is great if all you do is the MP's, just be sure to have some alternatives lined up in case one of those MP chicas wants to see you in your room. :D

Just a little more on the chica fees at the Sleep Inn. The hotel is owned by a group of investors headed up by Shelby, the owner of the Casino Colonial. Shelby is around 85 years old and has been seen with some of the more beautiful non-DR chicas. However his attitude towards chicas in his Casino is that he doesn't want them hanging around and soliciting the Gringos unless they are spending money. The hotel was built to satisfy the casino law requiring a hotel with at least 85 rooms to have a casino. Some think that the awning between the two is for cover from the rain. The law, like most here in CR, hasn't been enforced. Maybe so,but it's the connection that was the original intent.
