I am going to be traveling to Medellin, Colombia for the first time in Sept. for 5 days.I would like to where I can cash my US dollars for Colombian Pesos?I also do not speak any Spanish.I have read here that you cannot use US currency over there.I have also been told that there are a few CITIBANK banks in Medellin area.I do have a saving account at Citibank here in US.........so will I be able to go to the bank in Colombia and on my day of arrival and withdraw..........what ever amount I need and don't have to deal with going to ATM everyday.:)

you can change some funds right at the airport in MDE with out being ripped off, like at a airport in the US of A. In the airport there are two money exchanges up stairs in the departure area, but check between them, when I left last Jan they about 20-30 pesos different. but the same range as the money exchanges in town, So you can get taxi funds there.
For the most part money exchanges will give you a better rate and be a lot faster. The first time they have to take a finger print, after that they can pull up you records asap, so going back to the same place will save you some money. At the banks, same process, but you are standing in line with every else doing other types of banking. Do you want to stand in line or chase ladies??? up to you .

Where are you staying? Once that is know someone here could possible give you step by step directions to a money exchange.

No idea of using the Citi Banks, But do not forget to at least let your CC card company where and when you are going.

I just got back from Medellin yesterday. I speak little to no Spanish and had a great time.
The exchange location in the departure area gives you a pretty good rate, much better that the Hotels.
If you plan to use the Casa de Cambio's be sure to bring your passport.

Your best bet is to stay at the Medellin Mansion. There is a Casa de Cambio and a Citibank ATM just down the hill.
Also lots of wingmen to show you the ropes. Some great friendly guys always willing to let you tag along.
