The rooms are cool during the day and at night I close the windows or it can get a little to cool. As for the noise , I have stayed in most of the down town hotels and I find The Freebird the best. You have to keep in mind you are in the heart of SJ, not in a sea side resort. For the money you can`t go wrong, however some guys expect to much when paying so little. IMHO

You are in denial, I have stayed at every place in the Gulch in 15 years and at least 10 trips per year, gthey were all loud or louder. This place is loud.

And not for my money when the owner tells you in advance the place is quiet. You can sleep better in Parque Morazon, money is not the issue with me. Now I always stay at the Sleep in 3rd floor facing Colonial, minimal, minimal, street co-customer noise, new, ver y clean American quality.

.................good value, great owner, no chica fees, truly a great place.
I agree. The Freebird has gotten 98-99% positive reviews on this board. It's a great offering for the money.

Now if money is no object and you don't mind being insulted by $25 dollar chica fees ....

Make your reservation for 2 people on line, it works. Freebird $25 a night rooms I agree, is good, $65 dollars a night is different story when the owner tells me in advance its quiet. You need $25 room, expect noise, different when in advance he tells me it is quiet. It is LOUD ALL NIGHT, LOUD so either your completely stoned and can't hear it, or maybe noise like that does not bother you at 3 am, but me, I need quiet. Don't tell me it's quiet for $60-65 and then let me hear every word of the guy next door, and every motorcycle, bus, car, car alarm, cat, etc.

Most CRT type hotels have noise of one sort or another. I ALWAYS bring ear plugs.

Agree - if you are staying downtown, especially in a budget type hotel, its unlikely to be quiet. (Note to self - If I ever move to downtown SJ, and have a car, skip the alarm b/c no one - and I mean no one - pays any attention when it goes off, especially late at night :lol: )

I've been to the Freebird but will not stay there b/c of the smoking policy (I enjoy my 2 cigars/day) - do agree the owners seemed nice and the location is good:

SMOKING POLICIES;

•Smoking Rooms: Deluxe Queen Rooms 4 & 5 are designated Smoking Rooms.*

•Non-Smoking Rooms: Suites 1 & 2, Deluxe Queen Rooms 3, 6 & 7

•Non- Smoking Areas; The office, bathrooms, stairwells, computer area, corridor or any common area on the property are NON-SMOKING.
* cigarette smoking only no cigars or pipes
