Pay and park in a garage. There is one just south of the old New York bar or there is another one street east and south of DR.

my 2 cents - gringo + car + night time + near D.R.= TROUBLE few years ago my good friend that lives in a condo near HLH his buddy that lives across the hall (good guy and this guy kept 7 to 8 girls on his payroll ...just paying them to wait around for him to Phuck them...none of them were hotties but nasty fun sex girls) anyway he was leaving the condo one night and asked me if I wanted a ride to the DR ...I get in the back seat and we had 4 girls plus him.....on that 5 min ride to the DR I was able to finger one of them and have the other one play with my balls....opps back to your question,,,he parked next to the horseshoe ...gave somebody some money to watch his car ....told me it was safe as long as he tipped the right guy....but then again he lived in the gulch for years ....

Thanks. The one by the DR is what I was curious about. Is it secure?

Where are you staying ?? if you are at La Amistad or Sportsmens or nearby there is a very secure lot directly across the street from the 24 hr desk at Amistad where parking is 50% off for guests.

My opinion, leave your car there at night, spend the 600 colones ($1.20 approx.) or less to and from the Del Rey .. Remember never use one of the taxis just sitting by the door of the DR, unless you want to quadruple pay that is, walk out the door back door, get a moving taxi and flag him down. Say Maria Por Favor and your on your safely on your way back to your hotel for another 600 colones or less

solo mi dos colones...

Thanks.

Staying nearby on business. I was thinking parking lot could be easier than Maria if I stopped by after work.

There is no good reason to drive to the gulch at night besides the hassle of traffic and parking there is the very strict DUI laws to contend with. Have a drink or two and get pulled over by a transito and you face the possibility of being ticked for DUI with a $600 to 700 fine. Remember the threshold in CR is only .50. Blow a .75 and you will spend the night in jail and be criminally charged. Also bear in mind that the determination of your blood alcohol level is by a hand held breathalyzer that may or may not have been correctly calibrated and maintained.

To me that makes taking a cheap taxi ride a no brainer.
