I am deciding between those 2 hotels for my 1st trip to Costa Rica. Which hotel would be better?

Better for what?

In term of facilities? Service? Location? Availability of chicas on the premises? Privacy? To conduct business (other than mongering)? Meeting CRT members? Cost? Being able to be away from the action while still being close to it (or having it come to you)?

Given this is your first trip to CR and assuming you are going specifically to monger, I would recommend the SL.

The Hotel M is out of the way, out of the central action. Great place if you have favorites lined up to come to you but not good for new campers. I suggest the Sportsmans Lodge for a first trip and for most occasional visitors, every trip. The M is a cab ride away from any action, the Sportsmans and other hotels in the Gulch are where you will end up spending the most time looking. But when the parties start at the M, they are hard to beat. Think we could get a portable pole for the Penthouse?

First trip to Costa Rica?....Sportsmen's Lodge HANDS DOWN. As Pops said, it's a no brainer if you don't have any favoritas lined up. Plus, there are plenty of CRT members at the SL if you need any help. Buena suerte!

The two aren't really the same. While the SL has pretensions of being private club-like, it's really an alternate Del Rey. Hotel M really is a private club, it's focus is on being an upscale discreet place for businessmen (one with $$$$$) to mix work and play. The SL is about all play. :D

First time down I agree with POPS. Go to the SL, chica's and CRT bro's on site.

First time you really should consider the Del Rey. It's really an experience unto itself like no other. Try it a couple days then check out the SL. Have a great time!!! DRD

first trip there do the Del Rey, it's a unbelieveable experience you won't forget.
SL is a little more laid back with lots of nice chicas on site foot steps from your
hotel room door. there are lots of brothers who hang out there where you'll get all the great
information about the Gulch
