I can't buy into the premise of the article, beyond the radiation danger of the scanners. Fake documents or pairs or even groups of people "recognizing" each other would be too easy. Why do all fanatics have to be young? Older people can't carry explosives? Look at all those white bearded terrorists out there. As far as I know people don't shove ceramic knives up their ass. I'm not saying they couldn't but hey, what are the odds?

I could be wrong, Shadowman, but I think his central premise is thet the US needs in this to quit be being so so politically correct and target for special attention those who look to be the obvious (the Israeli approach) and maybe not give the others a free pass but subject them to a lesser degree of surveillance--a concentration of limited resources. Yes, I can hear the howls of outrage from special interest groups but no self-policing truly works (at least not for long) and one of the great failures of the Muslim world is those few moderates who have standing to be taken seriously are drowned out by the shrill din of of the fundamentalists and their enablers (think Al-Jazeera radio and TV). We live in a world where the disparate ragamuffin sheepherders who have never had any unity national or otherwise ( the Palestinians) have equal standing with a nation and a culture 5000 years old (the Israelis). A world where Israel's staunchest defenders are fundamentalist Christians and it's fiercest enemies are those who owe everything they are and everything they have politically and economically to Jewish Socialists.
