So, the word from various people is that the bar at the Amistad will be opening around June 15th. That's the good news. The good/bad news is that Asta from Sportsmens will be going over to the Amistad to run the bar business for them. Good for the Amistad, bad for Sportsmens!

Bill, Asta and Myself view it as a win, win, win situation. CRT members will have many different locations and bars to hang out in with different atmospheres. Asta is a partner in the Amistad Restaurant and will be responsible for the day to day operation. The real losers will be the gulch (sp?) as the idea is to diminish the need to leave the area. The restaurant across the street from the Amistad is under new ownership and is also very good. I walked a CRT VIP sponser form over and discussed it with the owner who i think will also be offering discounts. There is a new coffee shop (very nice) that opened up 1 block north of the amistad that shows potential. Having many options in a location actually helps everyone as long as there is variety of the food and activity. Amistad is going for a tapas and martini bar feel as not to be in direct competition with SL and cafe mundo.

Hope to see you all there and we appreciate CRT support.

Matt

Hello Gentlemen,

We wish Asta the very best for her in her new business opportunity with Matt at La Amistad. Her efforts helped us a great deal at Sportsmens Lodge over the past 4 years.

I also wish my friend Matt even more success at his Hotel with the “beautiful addition” of the new Bar & restaurant.

Sincerely,

Bill
Sportsmens Lodge

Hahaha - you beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to write. :D :D :D

While my first-hand experience with these places is not as recent as I'd like, they have all been a pleasure to visit.

I don't know what else Asta did at the SL on the management side, but I have to tell you Bill, the other girls working at the bar were GREAT. VERY friendly and accommodating. I'm sure they'll have no problems picking up the slack on the service end.

You run a top quality operation and I'm looking forward to my return in July (if my buddies can just get their travel arrangements done, I could book my room!)

I'm glad that this is all coming together. It has taken a while to get to this point. I'm especially happy for Asta.

Now if the Vesuvio will just get their head-and-ass wired together (any news about that locale lately? Not that I should talk stuff about a CRT Sponsor), there really won't be a reason to leave the New Gulch. Congrats to all, especially as this wasn't a poaching thing going on.
PS--"The New Gulch" is a raggedy term to use--is somebody working on a catchier term?

...Better might be Monger's Enclave (shortened to ME)? That work?

I'll be sure to swing by and say what's up to Asta. I've always enjoyed her flirtatious ways and how much shit she gives me for ordering water.

I agree with the others, Bill runs a tight ship and the staff is terrific. No one can beat the hamburgers and the reasonable prices at the Sportsmen’s. That is why I keep going back and bringing my friends.
