First visit ever to CR...YAY! and HELP

OK, so.. i am coming to San Jose for work this sunday and working through Wed.... (staying at the Intercontinental in Escazu)

I'd like to extend my trip through the weekend but get out of SJ and go to the pacific coast to do some diving, beach bumming and MONGERING!

Can anyone offer me some direction on where I can go that is inexpensive, clean and Uber-casual?
I would prefer to limit my shoe wearing as much as possible:-)

i am traveling solo and dont really want to deal with a rental car but will if need be.

Any guidence would be hugely appreciated. I am a no frills guy but I am not exactly the Hostel type. I am 41, in good shape. make good $ and just want to chill with drinks, sun and scuba.. oh.. I am a pot smoker and would like some insight there too for both SJ and other regions.

this board ROCKS! I will be joining as a full member of CRT later today!

Anyone else staying at the Intercont. next week? I'd enjoy a mongering buddy

The best place on the Pacific Coast and really the only option on the Pacific Coast if you want to do some mongering is Jaco...haven't personally been there though

If you get all your mongering out of the way in San Jose and just want some R&R then I'd head to the Caribbean Coast, nicer beaches and more relaxed atmosphere
