As of now, American Airlines is offering a paid internet service on NYC to MIA, LAX and SFO flights on their Boeing 767-200 flights . It's through an outfit called GoGo and costs $12.95 cross-country, $9.95 on 3 hours or fewer flights. The downside is that all VoIP calling (Skype, etc.) is banned and blocked.

Anyway, as stated in a previous link, this will over time make Flight Attendant's jobs tougher because as sure as dammit, somebody will come up with a workaround, enabling the Type-A personalities to scream on the Skype phone. Then the FA's gotta play cop.
