My next trip will begin with 4 days of business in Ciudad Colon in late July. Because I do not relish driving in the area, I don't want to rent a car. In order to keep taxi fares down, and to stay close to my business interests, I thought I would try and find a hotel relatively close to Ciudad Colon. An internet search pulled up a couple of hotels in Santa Ana (Hotel Alta) and several in Escazu. Nada in Cuidad Colon. Can you give me some advice? I would like to stay at a nice place, but the further west, the better (but still in the central valley)/Would it be easier just to stay at the Intercontinental? Are there any other hotels of that ilk in the area? Since I am going to be reimbursed, places such as the White House are out of bounds. Do you know of any nice hotels in Santa Ana or Ciudad Colon?

Any info or direction will be appreciated.

Ciaociao

There is a very modern Quality Inn just off the auto pista, that goes to Ciudad Colon from San Jose, in Santa Ana. It is located near the forum office complex at the Santa Ana off ramp and is just a few minutes drive to Ciudad Colon to the west and to Multi Plaza Escazu the east.

Courtyard by Marriott is about as centrally located as you can get with easy access to all highways, and smack dab in the middle between Santa Ana & Downtown. Its in the mall with Hooters & Outback....

PS AVOID BOTH

Book only and request the AAA rate trust me they don't ask to see your card and often especially off season you can get great rates with free breakfast, high speed Internet etc... Often a place I use when I'm in town in that area on business.

PS The Burger at the Restaraunt there is probably one of the best in SJO.. I know we don't go there for the Beef, just making an observation.

The Courtyard Marriot in Escazu is centrally located for your needs. Also there are at least a dozen restaurants there, some of the better ones in town. There is an excellent Spanish Restaurant (Asta's husband works there). You will be 2 minute from the Multiplaza and a 3,000 colone cab ride from the Sportsmen. Ciao it is about 1 kilometer west of my house on the AutoPista.

That's the name Tapas, It is excellent. Great food, decor, live music and a Flamenco dancer. Let's get a group together next week El S. There are also a group of clubs and discos right across from the new WalMart.

BK

If you could, find out what day Asta is not working and ask if her husband is, we could invite her along. I had mentioned on the last trip we should get a group together and go....

Fellas

Thanks for the input. I checked out the Quality Inn and the Courtyard and the latter appears to be, all in all, the better property for me. Booked it starting July 21.

BK, let's hook up over that first weekend. Maybe I could take you and Kathy to dinner. ES, I didn't know if you were directing the Tapas comment to me or just BK. Either way, I would be game.

Thanks again to all (ID, Capo, BK) for input. The Courtyard looks nice and I seem to have nabbed the last room.

Ciaociao
