I'm staying at the SL this coming weekend through the middle of next week but when I booked a couple months ago they had already sold out the rooms in the new wing more than two months in advance. Since i'm not quite as big a fan of the classic rooms in the older wing of the SL, I'm looking for advice on a place to stay on the last 4 nights of my trip. Are there any hotels in the gulch that have rooms that are comporable to the value and amenites of the new wing rooms at the SL. I prefer a place with no Chica fees and decent sized rooms that are close to the action. I would appreciate any advice.

BTW if any of you are thinking of booking new wing rooms at the SL, my advice would be to book them well in advance as they have become quite popular, largly due to this web site and forum I'm sure.

Also Amon Plaza has nice rooms at resonable rates.

I agree Amon Plaza is ok. $70 (cash, incl taxes) includes a very good breakfast.

RD,

The newest CRT sponsor is Hotel La Amistad located about a block northeast of SL. With the 15% CRT discount off the standard room rate of $50 and taxes applied, the room will run about $49 per day (if I did my math right). One big step: the owners eliminated the $13 chica fee. I have never stayed at La Amistad, so I can't comment on the place. I know a few CRT members who have...and although they did not rave about it...they were satisfied and would stay there again. I also picked up that a generous breakfast is included in the price.

Here is the link to the new CRT discount announcement:

If you stay there RD, you can be the first to write a review!

Note: Amistad is under complete renovation, and I personally have seen some of the completed rooms. They welcome you to stop by and get a tour as the rooms are much different then they used to be.

The hotel Castillo is right around the corner from SL, and is a CRT sponsor, with no chica fee. Another hotel close to the action, CRT sponsor, with no chica fee, is the Presidente.
