While looking at TRAVELOCITY rates for SJO, I read a review of the GRAN HOTEL from a man from Oklahome City. I have never stayedt there but always enjoy at least one meal at there outside resturant. The review said that he travels all over the world and the GRAN HOTEL had the best service anywhere in the world. He said he even left a 50,000 propina in his room after he left. Possibly the maid was nice to him

Gran Hotel de Costa Rica is best described as chica hostile. There is no chica charge because they will not allow a chica guest under any circumstances last I knew. This is not rumor but actually happened to a guy who stayed there when he first came to town to work in a sports book. He then moved into the complex I live in and related the cold hard facts. Unless someone else has had a more recent better experience I would definitely not stay there.

Hankkh, ID,

It is definitley not chica friendly. One of my wingmen had booked a room there following the Xmas holidays and he ended up having to relocate to another hotel because of their policy.
