Greetings,

Will be in Costa Rica with a wingman from April 11 - 19th.

We are going to Jaco for the 1st time from 4/14 - 4/17. Have not arranged transportation as of yet.

It is my understanding that a reliable cab could run $100 each way. Is that about right? I will get cabbie names from this site, but want to get a better idea on the cost before I get there.

Your responses are greatly appreciated. :)

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A CAB!

You have other options:

1) Book yourselves on Interbus and you'll be saving about $50 wach way. It's only $19/pp each way. They pick you up from your hotel and drop you off at your hotel in Jaco. Door-to-door service. Mostly new air-conditioned mini buses. I think it seats up to 8 people, but I've taken it a few times and only once were there other people onboard besides us. (Angry gringas yelling at Xman) Very comfortable ride, the driver will make a stop whenever you want. About 2.5 hour ride.

www.interbusonline.com

*The only thing is that you have to book them in advance. They require a credit card to guarantee the reservation. If you don't show they charge your cc.

2) Take the public bus from Coca Cola bus station. 1,350¢ ($2.60) per person each way. It's not too bad, I took it in February. No A/C, no bathroom, makes 1 10-minute stop along the way. Stops to pick up passangers along the highway. 3 hour ride.

*Better to buy your ticket a day or two before, or you may have to stand the whole way.

If you use your VIP status, and stay at the Copacabana in Jaco, it includes a FREE shuttle to and from the airport. I'm heading down 3/30-4/4, beginning and ending at DR, with a Jaco trip in the middle. I'll pay the $13 each way to/from the airport then the free shuttle takes/brings me to Jaco. A little more hassle, but cheap.

It's now $18 to the airport, so 36.00 in taxis to and from your SJO hotel to the airport and all the wasted time is hardly worth the "free" ride in my book, I'll spend the extra $2 for Interbus.

SpursFan 100 is too much, 5 of us took a van for 75 -for comparison.
