Just booked Taca thru Orbitz for Memorial Day weekend.

$449 total (JFK-SJO non-stop both ways). (Taca.com wants $518 for the same flights.)

I still get the Taca miles, even though I booked thru Orbitz right? They didn't ask for my distancia # when I booked.

When you check in just give them your Distancia number and you will get credit for the miles. If they are not on your next statement (after the flight) call TACA give them the info and they will give the mileage credit.

Does anyone know Taca's policy regarding changing a flight after already paying for a ticket? For instance, if I decide I want to leave CR a day or two later than I'd originally booked. Assuming, of course, seats are available, do they charge $100, etc for the change? If so, it would probably just be cheaper to book the later date from the get-go. Thanks.

Normal fee of $ 100 applies.

If you give them a sob story (assuming you can get someone on the phone who understand and speaks good english) sometimes you can get lucky and get them to waive it...I got lucky once and instead of a 4 hour layover in Guatemala it ended up being less than an hour

Just a TACA warning. If you try to change your flight mid-trip they may have very little availabe to change to....I had this problem with them last year.

Another Taca question: does anyone know where online I can find a layout of the Taca Airbus 319A jet? I reserved certain seats based on a 319A diagram I found online, but it was for Air Canada, and apparently the layouts can differ from airline to airline. Haven't been able to find the layout for Taca. Thanks.

I have flown Taca many times fromChicago onthe Airbus A319's

Taca used to be affiliated with AA, now are affiliated with United

The A319 will be one of these two configurations

Silencio, you are a fountain of knowledge, thanks for responding.

I'd checked on Seat Guru, too (good site), but wasn't sure which layout corresponded with Taca jets. I called the Taca reservation center and the operator told me that the row behind the emergency exit (with extra leg room for the window seats) was row 11, so that's what I booked. On the United layout, it's row 12, but since I'm booked in seat F and there is no seat F in the emergency row, I guess I'm in the right spot. We'll see. Would be a lot easier if Taca just provided a layout on their website, but I still like them.

Tiki,
I think your exit row is a little off if you're on a A319. I flown both the 319 and the 320 with Taca.

In a 319, the exit row is #9.
In a 320, the exit rows are #9 & 10 (2 rows).

With all due respect to El Silencioso, below are links to show the configurations that Taca uses. Like you said, there are many variations that airlines custom order, but Taca goes with the standard 2-class Airbus configuration.

Well, now I'm thoroughly confused, but such is life. I could try calling the Taca center again and asking, "Are you SURE?" or I could take my chances with what I have. As long as the Vicodin kicks in, things should be okay. Cost $519 for roundtrip from L.A., but I imagine I'll forget about that the first day I'm there.
