I stayed there a couple of nights last June, and will spend a couple of nights again this November. It is a very low key, simple, two story "motel" type place right on the beach, just on the fringe of town. It reminds me of the small, old time motels you used to see close to the ocean along the Atlantic coast; like along Cape Cod, or near the Jersey shore, but which have pretty much disappeared in favor of condos, Marriotts, Sheratons, and Best Westerns. By the way, when I was there a whole lot of construction was going on right next door, including some hammering and stuff well into the cooler hours of the night. But I believe those night time operations are done now.

I liked it as a real change of pace from San Jose, but admittedly have never stayed anywhere else in Jaco for comparison. I understand there are similar places in style and price range which may be a little closer to the BB. My room was $50 total per night for up to two people. The AC was a necessity and worked fine, beds are platform style and comfortable, electronic safe worked well – better than the key style safe I had at Castillo, btw, which I dislike with a passion. It was a little difficult to get total privacy with the semi-transparent curtains but I managed. There is no front desk - everything is handled at the bar/restaurant, so you are on your own as far as policing your chicas. I took a couple back and just walked up to my room with them. Like the hotel itself, the bar/restaurant is relaxed, layed back, and very social. I have read that chicas tend to hang there a bit during the day, and some even stay in the cheaper, non-AC rooms but I did not see any of that my past visit. I will look again.

It is not far, but is a little dark for walking to the BB at night. Fool that I am, I did it anyway, without any problems. I did take a taxi back each evening, chica in tow. I am looking forward to trying to get to know one waitress in particular just a little bit better, assuming she is still there. She was real friendly at the bar, not jail bait as some of the other girls there, and looked really hot in her black mini skirt. I have not gone the semi-pro route in CR but it might be fun investing some time one evening just to see if she's available, even if it was just for a night of fun at The Monkey Bar or Nacho Daddy’s after work.

You really need to get out more in Jaco. Altho, I love the bar and restaurant of Clarita's, one of my favorites, the rooms suck. I haven't been in one for three years, but those are overpriced $20/ nite rooms, not $50. For $19 more(breakfast not included), I stayed at the Tangeri a week ago and had a nice room, beautiful grounds, security, one block from BB, etc(see my previous posts). You are right on the waitresses, they are hot.

Whoa--while looking up Clarita's site, I looked at Tangeri's new hi season rates and they have jumped. I kind of figured this would happen, as they were refurbishing the rooms while I was there. You can rent a condo for this rate. Nothing goes down,.... except my ex wife

I do intend to look around at some of the alternatives next visit. I booked Clarita's again in November for two reasons:

1) It was a safe, known alternative and

2) I've got the hots for that one waitress which, knowing myself as I do, won't subside until she shoots me down, telling me she wouldn't be seen in public with the likes of me for anything less than cien.
