 Post subject: Apartments Sudamer?
PostPosted: Sun Jun 11, 2006 4:30 am
Not sure if I'm going to get a room at the hotels near the gulch, so I am wondering if any one has recently stayed at the Apartments Sudamer?

I did a search and read that the apartments were okay but in a rather dangerous neighborhood at night.

I have some specific questions if anyone has stayed there within the last 8-12 months:

How are the cheaper rooms? Quiet? Clean? Spacious or tiny?
Do they all have :
refrigerators?
Coffee makers?
Safes?
Dead bolts on the doors?
TV?
Is there any internet there?

And how hard is it to get a taxi when you need one, late at night, say if you come back with a girl and hang out for an hour, then want to head back to the BM or KL at midnight or 1am? If you have to call a taxi, how much is it and how long does it take to arrive?

Just how dangerous is that area at night? I never got the feeling the area around Idem (only a couple blocks away) was that bad...It's also near the Pantera Rosa, isn't it?

For $30-40night, is it worth it to stay there, or should I pay a bit more and stay at the Castillo or Amon Plaza? (IF they have rooms...)

I would be just renting for one week and forfeiting the other nights, as I am only there for 5 nights...

why don't you stay at the Hotel Nuevo Johnson?

it's cheap enough at $10 a night with private bath.

and the taxi ride is less than 1000 colones (including propino- I don't have the heart to ask for change from $2 from the taxi drivers) to the gulch.

plus, during the day, the market area is a wonderful place to stroll about (not to mention the proximity to some of RCB's low end MP's chicas)

just one block past the end of the pedestrian walkway.

however, they only have single rooms not apartments.

Sudamer is not a nice place and and units do have kitchen with frig and coffee maker. No safes last I heard. Vista Linda does have safes now which is nice. It is not in a great neighborhood, fine during day but dangerous at night with some trannies hanging out in area. Just few blocks South of Idem and few North of Pantera Rosa is correct location. Place is secure and likely has dead bolts and locking gate. It may be best to call a taxi late night opposed to standing out on street alone as not a lot of traffic at that time. Haven't stayed ther but know several who have.rbc100
