I have a co-worker who is going to CR for his honeymoon on May 15th.
They are arriving at 12:45PM which means they will miss the Nature Air flight to Tambor.

He wants to know what a good price for a taxi would be from the San Jose airport to Paquera and Mal Pais.
He said he was quoted $150 but I don't know where he got that price, most likely from the internet.

I suggested spending the night at someplace like Melia Carari and relaxing at the pool with his new bride (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) then flying to Tambor the next morning. He says he doesn't want to waste their first day in country and they want to get to where they're going all in one day.

In my view they're looking at a 5 to 6 hour taxi trip (via ferry) and won't get to their hotel until around 6 or 7PM so it wouldn't be worth it.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Wit

Another option for them would be Sansa Airlines. They run 3 flights per day, from SJO to Tambor. Flights are 30 minutes in duration, and they run $63 p/p one way.

Flight # 634 - Departs SJO 8:20 a.m.
Flight # 636 - Departs SJO 10:00 a.m.
Flight # 638 - Departs SJO 16:30 p.m.

Website is www.flysansa.com

Hope this helps.
Mucho Gusto

Thanks, MG, I'll pass it on.

Update:
He said during low-season the last flight from SJO to Tambor leaves at 11AM.

(actually looks like 11:30)

I suggested flying into Tamarindo but he said they would then have to drive through the mountains and then down to Tambor. Looks like they're in for an adventure no matter which way they choose.
