Weather Alert
June 29, 2022

Location: Throughout the country

Event: The U.S. National Hurricane Center and Costa Rica’s National Commission on Risk Prevention and Emergency Response (CNE) are tracking the development of a tropical storm forming in the southern Caribbean Sea that could affect Costa Rica. This event is projected to bring heavy rain to parts of Central America including Costa Rica starting on Friday, July 1 and continuing through the weekend. The weather system could cause floods or landslides in affected areas particularly in light of recent heavy rain throughout the country.

Actions to Take:
Monitor the progress of this weather system because additional alerts or warnings could be issued.
All U.S. citizens should ensure that they have adequate food, water, fuel and prescription medications on hand at all times as part of their standard emergency preparedness plan.
For more information or to monitor the development of this system, please visit the National Hurricane Center website at http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/, and follow the advice of local authorities as provided on the Costa Rican National Committee on the Prevention of Risks and Emergency Attention website: https://www.cne.go.cr/ or on Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/CNECostaRica.
