I have have been coming to CR for over 10 years. I have stayed at the following hotels, that used to be, but no longer, are chica friendly. El Presidente, Balmoral, and Dunn Inn. And although I frequent Sportsmans, and Del Ray, I have never had a desire to stay there. What hotel do you guys recommend that is chica friendly, and at a price point of about $70.00 / night. I am not interested in an all inclusive hotel arrangement because I enjoy the local restaurants. Thank you guys,
PAtron

Chica friendly as in no chica fee? At $70 or less?

1. Hotel Taormina. Stay in a 2nd or 3rd floor room. The 4th floor has a special $72 rate for the basic luxury room but it's over $80 with tax.

2, Sportsmens Lodge has clubhouse rooms at $65 (- CRT discount) but they sell out fast.

3. Hotel Little Havana. Starting at $50 (- CRT discount).

4. Hotel Officina (for the adventurous)

5. Hotel Paradise (for the adventurous) - about $30 - there's a thread here.

Hotel Morazan supposedly starts around $50 but their website shows no availability - all year!. CORRECTION: Hotel Morazan has no chica fee unless you bring more than one guest.

I too used to stay at Dunn Inn.
I think you will like Little Havana. no frills, rooms for $50.
Ask for Lulu or Jenny.

Thank you for the heads up guys. Do you think that I will be ok, leaving misc. luggage at these hotels, and then pick it up, when I come back to SJ, and stay in the same hotel for a couple of more nights. I used to do that when staying in the Dunn Inn. I am going to Mal Pais for a few days, and then return to SJ

I think your best bet would be Taormina.

I contacted an acquaintance who works at Taormina and she said you should email the front desk (frontdesk@taorminacr.com). There is no CRT contact there now, so the front desk people should be able to handle everything.

Under the old ownership, when it was the Mona Lisa. So, actually, no.

LA has held my luggage behind the counter and I'd certainly ask.

Wow. Going to reach back to at least 3 years ago and completely different ownership (and staff) to tar the current ownership and staff?

i wasn't slamming the hotel i have no interest in any business in CR
just questioning how suddenly this is the go to place for the safety of the OP's luggage?
the other places have zero incident over a far longer stretch of time regardless of ownership
thats just a matter of fact

Look at La Amistad and the All Inclusive with CRT discount is about 94.00 per night for a king room which is only 10.00 more than the non inclusive rate of 84.00 so even if you only have a couple of drinks at the bar you can make up the 10.00 really easy and you have the benefit of eating there when you want and not paying for it. The food is actually very good and you might find yourself eating there more often than you think.
