I had heard that Taormina isn't going to let chicas into the bar area, unless they are already escorted. So really, "Everyone" isn't quite "Welcome", are they?

Place is a joke. On a warm day its about 90 degrees inside. They always have the ventilation system turned off. Guess the morons who run the place dont know running a fan is cheap.
They used to have a drink menu offering 3$ beers during football games. Well that menu disappeared. 4$ for a pilsen and 6$ yes 6$ for a bavaria. 8$ for a tiny pour of wine.
Small food menu, expensive and food bad.
To top it off the service is horrible.
Avoid at all costs.

Looks like we're getting squeezed out of this place from a hobby standpoint.

I'm guessing they will be fully chica unfriendly at some point in the future.

The service was bad in the back bar when I was there recently. I frankly got better service from the Del Rey bartenders. Can't comment about the food, but a friend said the hamburger he had wasn't good.
The food and service at the Italian restaurant in the hotel were good, however.
I hope the hotel gets its act together and remains CRT friendly. Such potential.( the bartenders there did however, look very sexy in their slinky black dresses)

Expensive for beers. They have a generic breakfast for $10.00. I wish them well. I wish they had more chicas there. I still wonder what type of crowd they're trying to appeal to. Might not be the mongers, although I saw many there the last time. They all go to Dunn Inn to eat.I saw last time they even took away the smoking bench right outside the door. Guys are going down to the art gallery/ restaurant next door to smoke and I saw the tall Tica owner shag them away a couple of times.

They have certainly jacked up their room rates. I stayed in 1 of the 4th floor remodeled rooms in December, a room I had countless problems with, & paid $80-10% crt discount = $72 + tax. That same room is now being offered on their website for $121, a better than 50% increase. No thanks & never again!

I think that some of that increase is seasonal, but my room went up twenty bucks since a few months before. Maybe they are going to morph into the Holiday Inn. I have no idea what their long term plans are.

Well they seem to have their poker room going pretty well. I went in a couple of weeks ago and they had 3 tables going but NO casino business. I was also informed that chicas are NOT allowed in the rooms.

I just returned from a stay. I really appreciate all the work that Guy Grand does to get the CRT guys in, but there is some real disconnect between what he is doing and what the hotel actually does.

When I showed up with my wing, we were booked on different floors, even though it was a single reservation. When I asked them to move my wing to my floor, they stuck him in a 'deluxe' room without mentioning it, and then charged me $79 a night each (after being quoted ~$70 by Guy).

I paid for one night at $79, and then the next day was told that the deluxe room is way more expensive. I went round and round and finally threw in the towel, paid the bill, and resolved to not deal with it in future.

BTW: the 'deluxe' room was identical to mine, except it had 1 extra safe, 1 extra refrigerator, and about 20 sq ft more space, with a couch against the back wall.

I have mixed feelings about this hotel (name change from Mona Lisa to Taormina). And btw, Guy has always been a stand up dude as far as I'm concerned and this is no reflection on him.

On my first Mona Lisa Stay 3-4 years ago, my wingman fell In Love with Mariana, the front desk clerk. She was a fantastic front desk clerk. I'll leave it at that.

As funny as this might sound, I used to like to change hotels a lot, a few years back, because it was easier than dealing with drama surrounding Ticas I did at SL. IMHO, there always was, and is, a Tica Mafia ( I'm kidding of course) and or pecking order at SL. In my world, I used up all my bullshit in 36 hours with the girls - I only have so much game don't you know!

After 36 hours, all the fugly mafia Ticas I put off for a day and a half wanted, demanded I take them to my room. Well, maybe I handled it wrong ...who knows. It was just easier to leave SL. Plus I always found it to be uncomfortable when I brought back an outside Chica that wasn't in the SL Mafia. The Chicas always felt uncomfortable too.

So After my game was all used up and I phucked all the pretty ones, I didn't want to see, talk too, or deal with any mafia regulars at SL (which I love and have stayed at numerous times). So the Mona Lisa was always an inexpensive alternative quiet hotel and a perfect location for bringing back girls from wherever.

I have reserved rooms through Guy maybe 6 times over the years x 3 wingman and have had positive experiences at the Mona Lisa.

Plus it is a very short walk to Zona and all the other MPs. We used to do SL for 3 nights, Jaco and MA for 3-4 nights, than back to Mona Lisa or Zona Blue/Havana/Zona II (I miss the see through showers) for 1-2 nights...

I don't think I ever got ripped off at The Mona Lisa, and as I remember, the rooms were plain and always about $50 thru Guy. What wasn't to like!

If the Taormina is $80 or more a night for a basic room and charging a Chica fee (or frowning on our hobby), than I say NEXT.

There are too many options for us enthusiasts...

In summary, if the owners of Taormina have a business model and marketing plan that does not include or account for our hobby - so be it. After all, it's their hotel. They can do what they want!

I'm sorry, did you just say La Amistad all inclusive!

Footnote. I really do love the SL and La Amistad equally. After 10 years, I choose one or the other for the first couple of nights based on who my wingman are and how I want the trip to roll.

Did anybody attend the party at Mona Lisa?

We went when they opened the "sports bar" and it was like a cemetery. Actually it was more dead than that. About 4-5 waitresses and bartenders and only 3-4 customers.

Buffet at Taormina $50 plus all you can drink (Pizza and looked like fish or chicken fingers) no women. Free hot dogs at Zona II with happy hour prices on drinks (two for $7) good lineup of girls. Didn't see the Sportsman's. The Del Rey gave free buffett, hot dogs, wings, chilli, hamburgers, cherviche, deserts. It was packed with viewers and the best lineup of women I have seen there in years. Conga band came in after the game and entertained with most of the bartenders and waitresses joining in to put on a show. Congrads Del Rey you did a great job. I don't have a desire to drink $50 or $60 worth of liquor and a $5 meal at a Casino for $50, give me a break. Should have been prime rib for that price. Ever been to a Casino buffet in Vegas? It may cost $15 or $20 but they give you a hell of a spread. Think Golden Corral and happy hour drink prices. Casinos make money if people gamble. This is Costa Rica. Many things are done half-assed.
