Mona Lisa Hotel would like to inform CRT Members of a pending change of management. This week an agreement was reached among the shareholders to transition the control of the property.

New management will be forthcoming with a press release once they have fully made the transition. In the interim, the hotel will remain open and rates will remain the same. Policies are also expected to remain the same. Guy will continue to be the CRT point of contact and plans to stay on with the new management team.

The only immediate change is that the restaurant will be closed during a remodeling, which will last for at least four weeks.

We at CRT wish everyone involved the best of luck during the transition. We hope that the Mona Lisa will continue to be one of the preferred destinations for our members in Costa Rica.

I sure hope all is well, I am staying there a couple of days next week, wanted to give it a try for myself. I suppose I will soon find out. Hope the sports bar, and the ladies, are still there when I arrive. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

Anyone know if Helmut and Helen will still be there? I heard the guys who own the rib place east of there will be taking over the restaurant. Any rumors going around?

You must be referring to JR Ribs, near the zoo. That could be good or bad :?: I've only eaten there one time. Three of us arrived around 12:30, and we got our food almost an hour and a half later. The food was OK, but over-priced.

I'm pretty sure the new ownership is targeting the LGBT community. That IS A PRETTY BIG CHANGE in strategy.

Could you please expand on what makes you pretty sure of this? Thanks!

Sure, I'll send you a link from https://tipscostarica.com/hotel-mona-lisa-costa-rica-is-under-new-management/ which is sourced in http://www.hotelnewsresource.com/article77853.html.

This is not good news. However, I suppose if you are tolerant, you can sort of turn your head.

Thanks Chi_trekker.

Very interesting. I notice that the date of the original source article from Hotel News Source is date May 2014, almost a year ago. I wonder if the deal went through or something else is going on. I'm planning to give it a try for the first time on my upcoming trip in late May. I would have no issue with their new positioning. However, I hope they keep catering to our "community". Hmmmm!

The LGBT deal fell through last year. It's not back on the table.

Thanks for the update Admin 3. Hopefully we'll have news about new management soon. I would like to feel a bit more confident before booking my first stay.
